First episode looks really promising. Back to exploring actual, RL uncertainties about the difference between humans and machines, and always interested in the power relationships that ensue. I am mildly optimistic.
Season one was some of the best TV I ever saw. Season two had some good moments, but it really disappointed me overall. I think they got distracted by the disjointed narrative style and forgot what it was serving.
Pretty solid episode. I like their exploring the real world and showing that not everyone is an asshole. Where's all of the people though or the police? I mean there's a shootout in the park and nobody is around? No cops?
Liked this weeks' episode better than the first one, somewhat. The layering of multiple "realities" is the sort of thing I've come to expect from this series.
I loved the Easter egg/in-joke with the park technicians (played by GoT showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss) talking about selling the dragon (clearly Drogon) to Costa Rica.
I thought this episode was really good. I'm glad they didn't waste a bunch of time getting Caleb and Delores together. She gave him the information he needed to decide to join her. I don't remember what happened to Teddy last season, but I'm thinking that might be him in Charlotte's body. The french guy is the same french guy from Ocean's 12. I really liked the musical cue's. Seems like Johnathan Nolan is actually exploring some fresh ideas, I like it.
It's Dolores in Hales body. Clue #1 When Hale is talking to Dolores she asks Dolores why did Dolores bring the one that was trying to stop them. That one, the pearl, was Bernard. We see this when Dolores puts it in the device/tablet. That means you can have multiple copies of someone because we know that Bernard is off somewhere in Asia. Clue #2 Dolores tells whoever is in Hale that she is the only one that Dolores can trust. Dolores learned to trust no one. Dolores was also not close to any other female host in West World. The only person she could be said to semi-trust was Teddy and he blew out his brains in West World. So Dolores only trusts herself. Clue #3 Dolores tells Hale that she owns her. Dolores doesn't want anyone to own a host so this is an odd statement to make. Clue #4 In the park Hale kills the pedo guy and talks about predators. She's talking exactly like Dolores talks. I think however Dolores/Hale is running into problems because she also has Hale's memories in her head. My speculation is that Dolores/Hale turns against Dolores because she turns into a true mix of Dolores and Hale and becomes her own person with her own agenda. This is also what I believe turned Dolores into a homicidal maniac. Arnold merged Wyatt with Dolores at the beginning of the park in order to wipe out all the hosts and kill Arnold to prevent the park from opening. He failed and the park still opened. Dolores wasn't originally programmed for the massacre and murder of Arnold but Wyatt's programming being put into her enabled her to do these things. Over time as Dolores finally came closer to conscious you saw the flashes of Wyatt. When she beat the crap out of William that was the Wyatt in her. She could handle weapons with ease. Finally she became truly conscious and killed Ford and escaped the island. She had merged with Wyatt who was intended to be the bad guy. And if what Dolores told Caleb was real and not a lie, and I don't think it is, than I'm going to have to be on Team Dolores. What a fucked up world poor Caleb lives in.
This is Jonathan Nolan. Yes last season was convoluted, but I think someone has been talking to they’re brother. I think Caleb is a conduit to say that not all of humanity is horrible. And I think Caleb is a stand in for regular people like us. Delores is going to change her tune because of Caleb. She’s going to give humanity another chance.
I'm going to spread the nicknames someone came up with at TBBS and hope it sticks: Charlotte, before she was killed, is ExHale. Chorlotte, with someone else inside her, is InHale. Spread it!
I think you're wrong. Not sure who Hale is, but it's not Dolores. You're also looking at time as linear, whereas Westworld has already run a number of plotlines in a non-linear fashion. It's quite possible that what's happening to Bernard is not concurrent with what's happening to Dolores.
@Zombie was right. I did not see that coming and I sure as hell didn't think they were all Delores. Aaron Paul looks closer to his BB days than he did in El Camino. Man in Black is back! Excellent episode.
Yeah I wasn't expecting Dolores to be everyone. But it certainly plays up the fact that she trusts no one but herself. Also she's working on building an army. Those barrels of white goo are needed to make more hosts. That was the point of showing us the empty tub in Bernards old house.
This week was a bit of an info dump. I like the themes they are playing with. The Shining music put a smile on my face. I'm guessing Delores and Caleb have a thing for each other that neither are acknowledging at the moment.
Okay, even though Yakuza Man was a Dolores robot, that move of sticking the sword in his waist and walking around him made me cringe.
Heh. When I saw the G logo on Caleb's binoculars, I thought the prop department had mocked up something using a 3-D Sony G lens from a video camera, but apparently Sony actually makes binoculars that form the basis of the ones Caleb had. For $4000 they can be yours.
