    I'm not sure where the server is physically located, but my new best friend at my hosting place told me there is a network DOS going on. I'm not sure what that means, but everything from my yahoo email to my work server has been slow for the past 2-3 days.

    It's not bandwidth, it's CPU. Some idiot is running a Perl-based BBS which spawns a bunch of Perl instances. From the look of it, three perl instances and one httpd instance have been running in a cpu-hogging infinite loop for the last few days.
