Here lies the thread listing the foods we wish we could have right now, but can't, for one reason or another.

Mine are Lychees. They only grow at a certain time each season, and if I miss going to chinatown for them, I have to wait till next year. Man, I love those things!

My ma makes this great version of Swedish Meatballs that comes out with a gravy that we eat over egg noodles. Generally with cooked carrots on the side and biscuits. Also she has a nifty recipe for carrots that I have to learn from her that involves orange juice and honey, they come out tasting orangey and sweet (wow whoda thunkit). Can't have em right now since I haven't seen my mother in over a month, but I'm sure if I tell her ahead of time that I'm comin' over she'll get the ingredients for all of it together.

Caraway seed cake that my gran used to make. She gave me the recipe before she died, but I lost it, and none of the others I've tried come close... :(

^You ever tried it? I had it a few times before I turned veggie, and it's actually bloody tasty! 'Specially with a little mustard.

Personally I prefer the rectangular cubes of rice with a rectangular filet of salmon on top, topped off with a glob of wasabi.

My girlfriend and I ordered some for dessert on Friday night but we couldn't eat it, so we had it boxed. We didn't get around to eating it and I left it in her fridge yesterday. :(

Funny you should say that. We went to our usual lunch haunt today and it took quite a while for them to serve our food so they gave us a free dessert of...peach cobbler.
