I watched the little March today that ended up being an anti republican rally and keep wondering what if the republicans hold the house and Senate in the midterms and Trump wins reelection? All the protesting of the 60s gave you Nixon The anti iraq war protests gave Bush a second term and the midterms of 2002 to the party in control of the white house for the first time in decades Now you've got the women's March leaders cozying up to Farrakhan and these kids banging the far lefts battle cry of socialism. What happens if those backwards Podunk white trash idiots that Hillary hates so much turns on the left for being so devisive and hateful and relegates the lefts power to the coasts? Are they going to March again in the deep blue strongholds of Seattle and burn cars again?
Well, it is good to gloat about victory now because that way if the liberals do happen to do something in the next few elections you got a chance to pretend you won. As for what if it happens the snowflake white will continue to get their ass pounded by the people they voted for while the rest of us watch and wonder why you didn't let us help you.
Millennials, along with Gen Z, outnumber baby boomers, so there's a good chance that wet dream of yours won't come true. And Nixon played himself because he was goddamned paranoid and idiots like you proceeded to blame Ford and Carter for all of society's ills. Bush won because the Democrats we're trying to set Hilary up with a softball pitch for 2008 so they ran Lurch as a candidate that no one was excited for. And in 2002, even Dems supported some action against the Middle East after the terrorist attack the year before. That didn't already happen two years ago? Meanwhile, you couldn't even get a book that you paid for TWICE to light up after postering for a week about it. Sit down.
The old conservatives who want guns to have more rights than women and still think that white men are superior to everyone else are going to start dying off in the next few years. The only conservatives who are young are a minority of Internet trolls, edgelord Nazi cosplayers and bitter virgins who decide shooting a lot of people is a good idea. None of them are going to get far in politics. Most wont leave their mother’s basement. But nice masturbatory fantasy though. Demographics are showing that young liberals are remaining liberal later in life, while the majority of Republican voters are a slowly dwindling number of older white people. Which given that Republicans are going out of their way to turn off all minority voters, isn’t really a good long term strategy unless we invent immortality in the next decade. So thanks to the Reaper the future of America is looking pretty liberal.
I heave to say the NRA might be a loser this time. The elderly communities around here in Florida went out and protested outside of their communities for gun control and banning assault rifles. These are the fifty five plus communities that have a lot of boomers and not the assisted care communities where their parents are.
I was actually shocked to see that the Woodstock generation getting out and protesting with the kids. It seems they did not get as conservatarded as faux news hoped.
To be fair, Seattle is pretty much the best place to set fire to cars - the rain will ensure only minimal damage is caused...
The only thing that scares me, is as someone observed, if conservatives feel like they're not getting what they want from democracy, they'll just abandon democracy. Don't fantasize that they'll just go "oh well, that's the end of us then ". Things will get nasty before they get better.
True and they’re already gerrymandering state districts to favor them, it’s probably the only way they can remain a national party. They haven’t won the popular vote in years. I don’t think conservatives are as popular as they like to claim they are. Polling seems to suggest that the majority support liberal ideas. Democrats don’t get their message out enough or in a way that appeals to people and voter apathy hurts a lot too. Hell Hillary won the popular vote and if you’d ask most people she’s about as popular as a proctologist with hooks for hands.
Conservatism will always be around. It may become more like what Europe has, where the fight is largely on fiscal spending and less on national identity and abortion rights (outside of Ireland). But both parties seem to agree that UHC and gun laws are a good thing.
It is rather fascinating what has occurred. For years the pro-gun side has been passionate and committed to their cause, while the anti-gunners couldn’t really get anything going in terms of sustained momentum. We definitely can’t say that anymore. I don’t necessarily agree that “banning guns” is the way to go, but if this movement helps bring people out for other causes I do support, then I’m all for it. Even risking the inevitable conservative backlash.
The vast majority of the teen idiots protesting now will eventually grow up and figure out that liberalism is retarded.
They won’t be able to keep the social issues going much longer. Even the young Republicans want to drop that shit and it’s likely keeping away voters who would support them for financial issues. Everyone in their 30s and younger grew up with gay kids, they consider them just like everyone else. I find anyone who does get upset is probably trying to mask their own issues with sexuality. Same with trans people.
Judging by Trump's temper tantrum when he signed the budget deal I think the left is doing just fine. It's quite something to see out of power party exert so much influence and control over the final legislation. If you're a Republican I'm sure you're happy to know that Planned Parenthood and NPR were fully funded while the border wall wasn't.
I keep hearing this that if only the stupid Americans could understand what the Liberals were saying they would vote for them Obama said that all the time only if my messigingg was better you would vote for my party because you know I'm smarter and my ideas are better and he wouldn't have lost the midterms both times
That’s what I said, but I blamed the Democrats for doing a shitty job at spreading their message. If you want to call Americans stupid, that’s on you.
actually during the summer months it hardly ever rains in Seattle compared to many other US cities. Just sayin'
Given the investigations into Trump it seems like you could better compare the current situation to Nixons second term. Which means you're 2 years away from electing President Carter MK2.
B I think we already had Nixon's first election. However, I cannot put it beyond the democrats to lose. They somehow managed to lose to trump. You are pretty much the grand champion of losing when you lose to the guy who is probably America's biggest loser when you consider how much he began with and how much he has been given. I actually wondered how the dems were going to lose worse than they did in Obama's first term, but losing to trump showed they had not yet even showed us what they are capable of.
Some of us have even become more liberal as we've grown older. In my early 20s, I was conservative. At 38, I'm ultra-liberal, and finding new ways to expand on that, because there is a point where you realize it's not so much about being liberal as it is about maximizing the right for human beings to live as they want, while also protecting those who are most prone to the damaging effects of corruption in the system.
What happens if Skrain fails? We already know. Books get burned. Poor style shoes are purchased. In total, a lot of money and dignity wasted.
