What's the matter Pardot....don't like the question....

All the people requesting max red are from a certain political stripe....I can see why you would object to the policy being questioned.

Max Red sounds like an action hero.

Max Green sounds like an old west shopkeep.

    That's the difference.

It's like the difference between asking for a thousand dollars and negative a thousand dollars.

I'd be very, very happy to give you negative a thousand dollars anytime you want, but I'm not so keen on give you a thousand dollars.

Max Redrep would be a good name for a porn star. Max Greenrep would be a good name for an eco-terrorist.

Max Green would be a good name for an old Jew. Max Red wouldn't be a good name for anything.

Max Red would be a good name for a 50's spy novel cold war era commie henchman.

Both are equally meaningless status symbols used by lonely nerds to increase the value of their own self worth.

Damn the man. Damn the rep.

No, one is used by people who are too big a pussy's to actually account for the stupid shit they say. They go crying to the admins to get themselves set to max red as a "fuck you" to those they constantly piss off. That way they can just say "I requested max red". I guess that sounds better to them than "I posted stupid, inflammatory shit for ages and got negged into oblivion".

It's too bad the staff happily obliges them. Especially since I thought it was the staffs policy to stay out of rep wars and the like. Honoring requests like that is putting the staff right in the middle of it.

Warning for flaming in The Help Desk.

Everyone else needs to tone it down or this is getting locked until an Admin drops in to comment.

This whole thread is a troll that's been repeated multiple times despite getting locked twice. I don't mind the warning, but be evenhanded about it.

I actually agree that this thread is unneccesary, but I'd rather not lock threads in the Help Desk until the question has been answered, and since I'm not one of the people who can change rep scores I'm not the one to answer it.

Archangel is skimming close to the line with posts like his last one though.

This exact same thread has already been locked twice and Archangel just starts up another, getting more abusive each time. I don't think anyone not Archangel will complain if you warn him and lock the thread.

    Well.......

There probably should be a "no tampering with the rep system regardless of the green/red situation" if for no other reason than to avoid threads like this in the first place.

    EXACTLY!

Of course this thread was in no way a troll, but I do get a chuckle watching Liet have a seizure.

If someone honestly wants a comment system without the drama surrounding rep, setting their rep to max red is probably the best way to give it to them.

For that reason alone, I like the option being available.

My honest opinion is if they want max negative red, they should have to earn it themselves. I remember one guy that used to post here. His username was Neutral Zone Refugee. I remember no one liking him, and him constantly being neg repped. He wore it as a badge of honor.

If other people feel the need to emulate him, and be neg-repped into oblivion, they should have to earn it like that guy.
