According to the wikipedia entry on the show, Keri Russell's haircut is listed as #19 of the 25 worst mistakes on television.

Yes. I read the Wikipedia article.

The same one that mention the schedule change--that happened BEFORE the haircut.

Frankly, I think it was probably a lotta hype over nothing, and knowing what I know about curly hair like hers, I'd probably want to cut it off, too. That shit takes a helluva lotta work to pull off at that lenght.

This is the only Star Trek ship design worthy of screen time, IMO:

    Okayyyy..... where is the insult?

If you "Deez Nuts', that's not exactly an insult. It's more like saying "You are so very wrong it's not even funny.".

Correction then. I've been told it was "trolling".

    Ask Chad for further details.

Why would they do that when they can just milk the fact it's the 50th anniversary while also going for something they think will make them money?

I went back and watched those two season 4 Enterprise episodes about the Reliant. Holy crap! No wonder the show tanked. That was some really, really bad acting by more than one main character. Dayton is right. The Reliant was the one thing in the two episodes that wasn't raw sewage. And of course they threw it's legacy in the trash can without missing a beat.

Simon Pegg, who wrote the movie, also hated the trailer and blamed the marketing department.

I have a lot of respect for Pegg and his writing abilities, and I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt for now. So lets see how it pans out.

From the bits and pieces you hear it seems many think the trailer was deeply flawed.

And I'm sure they are still in the editing process so maybe they can correct the worst of the movies flaws.

What is it with the damn motorcycles anyway?

If they get a negative reaction to the trailer they can edit it differently. Same way if a test audience doesn't like something.

As in Generations when the test audience loathed how Kirk died they changed it in the final cut.

I enjoy a lot of musical styles across several genres. But I think the Beastie Boys is nothing but annoying noise. I feel the same about hip hop and rap. It's not music. It's shouting and noise with repetitious, one dimensional music in the background. In any case, are the Beasties even going to appeal to anyone who isn't in their 40's or 50's now?

Despite that, this is only a teaser trailer that was probably stitched together by some intern in the marketing dept because they thought he'd appeal to his peers.

I am weary of the Enterprise always going up against some huge ship that tears it to pieces. We've seen it from the last 3 films. It took the original Kirk 20 years to destroy the ship. This Kirk does it every movie. It's getting old.

But since most people involved with this new movie have admitted the mistakes made in Into Darkness, I'm looking forward to a good film.

The editing of that trailer has nothing to do with the editing of the actual movie.

They aren't going to do that based on reaction to the trailer. That's what advance screenings are for. Everything in the trailer might make sense and be totally awesome in the context of the film. They will only make edits based on surveying people who have seen the whole thing. I used to go to those all the time -- free movie in exchange for filling out a questionnaire at the end.

I wish film makers would release the movies they want to make and not the ones a test audiences approved of.

I don't know. I think the test audiences are usually right. From what I've read, the way Kirk dies in the first cut was horrible. But then again, the whole treatment of Kirk in that movie was horrible.

    I don't care. It's a TV show/movie.

    I LIKE "pretty"

I don't need it to be logical.

That said, I've seen more compact designs that I liked (Galactica, the Roger Young from Starship Troopers) but you're never going to have the suits try to get Trek fans to buy a compact version of Enterprise, so there's absolutely no point in even discussing the form-follows-function logic in the context of what the Enterprise should look like.
