Roll-your-own cigarette operations to be snuffed out Jobs who needs'em. Right? Your gangster government at work.
So the real question is... ...where would the little guy be without Big Tobacco trying to squash him?
Re: So the real question is... As long as you quit doctoring my posts. Your puny little topic is of no interest to me, anyway.
These roll your own shops were using a loophole to avoid taxes. Good for them, but it shouldn't have surprised them that the loophole would close, especially when big tobacco is in bed with big government. Individual smokers are still free to avoid the tax by hand rolling.
Re: So the real question is... Why, yes. Yes, you are. You even troll your own threads. It's not as if you can actually discuss the topics you post. If you could, you'd stop trolling me and respond to gul's post.
Sandbagger is likely unsure what to make of my post, as it doesn't fit the dichotomous world he's constructed in his mind.
REG: They've bled us white, the bastards. They've taken everything we had, and not just from us, from our fathers, and from our fathers' fathers. LORETTA: And from our fathers' fathers' fathers. REG: Yeah. LORETTA: And from our fathers' fathers' fathers' fathers. REG: Yeah. All right, Stan. Don't labour the point. And what have they ever given us in return?! XERXES: The aqueduct? REG: What? XERXES: The aqueduct. REG: Oh. Yeah, yeah. They did give us that. Uh, that's true. Yeah. COMMANDO #3: And the sanitation. LORETTA: Oh, yeah, the sanitation, Reg. Remember what the city used to be like? REG: Yeah. All right. I'll grant you the aqueduct and the sanitation are two things that the Romans have done. MATTHIAS: And the roads. REG: Well, yeah. Obviously the roads. I mean, the roads go without saying, don't they? But apart from the sanitation, the aqueduct, and the roads-- COMMANDO: Irrigation. XERXES: Medicine. COMMANDOS: Huh? Heh? Huh... COMMANDO #2: Education. COMMANDOS: Ohh... REG: Yeah, yeah. All right. Fair enough. COMMANDO #1: And the wine. COMMANDOS: Oh, yes. Yeah... FRANCIS: Yeah. Yeah, that's something we'd really miss, Reg, if the Romans left. Huh. COMMANDO: Public baths. LORETTA: And it's safe to walk in the streets at night now, Reg. FRANCIS: Yeah, they certainly know how to keep order. Let's face it. They're the only ones who could in a place like this. COMMANDOS: Hehh, heh. Heh heh heh heh heh heh heh. REG: All right, but apart from the sanitation, the medicine, education, wine, public order, irrigation, roads, a fresh water system, and public health, what have the Romans ever done for us? XERXES: Brought peace. REG: Oh. Peace? Shut up!
Re: So the real question is... You mean the post where you agreed with what I said? You have quite the undeserved high opinion of yourself.
That was only part of the post, but the more substantial point was that the roll your own entrepreneurs should have understood that they needed to recoup the investment on a very short timeline. That they didn't means they weren't very sharp businessmen.
Re: So the real question is... Link? Meanwhile, #9, #14, and #15 are awaiting your attention, puffball.
And? Does that negate it? It doesn't, does it. Why is that? Please explain what the problem is with RYO shops that requires government intervention?
The problem is that they were intentionally exploiting a loophole to avoid a legally instituted tax. In doing so, they ensured that the loophole would be closed. The business model depended on nobody noticing that they were avoiding a tax paid by their competitors. To expect nobody would notice was foolish.
They were paying taxes. Lots of taxes and further they were creating tax payers. So the government's and private industry's greed alone justifies it? Which means their competitors lobby the government instead of you know competing. And that's A-Okay with you. So you're okay with this as well?
Government comma rationing. Anyway, there's nothing goverment could do that sandbagger wouldn't think was the WORST THING EVER, so why bother? He probably blames Obama if he gets stuck in traffic.
So you're another one with no problem with the Feds and Big Business working together to kill small businesses?
