The plethora of Roman Polanski threads over the years somehow made me believe RepublicanForge would be rushing to furiously and unambiguously condemn any old man that raped a minor decades ago...

One convicted in a court of law. Ran away to Europe to avoid prison time.

One accused almost forty years later. No evidence. Just an accusation out of the blue. In the middle of a national hysteria of people accusing others of sexual harassment daily. A candidate hated not only by the Democrats but also the establishment Republicans. Just in time for an upcoming election.

It is Roy Moore. He hates gays, blacks, women, Hispanics, and thinks Jesus was a Caucasian man in Europe. He pulled out a gun and waved it around at one of his speeches. I am pretty sure this man will be the leader of the alt right when they realize Donnie little hands is using them. If this man wasn't grab in some pussy he wouldn't be their hero. He could fuck a duck on stage and they would say that the duck was asking for it and deserved it. Roy Moore might very well be the actual savior that corresponds to the right wing. Jesus was a bit of a hippie. Roy Moore probably does not need to walk on water because they already want to believe he does.

Nonetheless, I agree with your meaning. It can be dangerous to believe allegations based on hearsay alone... until multiple, unrelated victims come forward and a pattern begins to emerge. This seems to be the situation with Roy Moore from what I can tell.

I just don't understand that story. Apparently he would encounter women throughout the course of the day and casually ask them to watch him beat off. Why would you want someone to see you diddling yourself? What's in it for either party? Wouldn't sex be preferable?

The thing is none of it really matters. Unless an incident is found to have occurred in 2010 or later and there is more evidence than "a minor said" then Roy Moore is never going to be brought to trial or convicted of any crime.

I have little doubt he did what he is accused of. But he is still legally as innocent as Anna, ed629, shootER, Tuckerfan, myself or anyone else.

The thing is with all the sexual abuse allegations popping up against men in positions of influence or power reminds me a great deal of the allegations of child abuse at various day cares and preschools in the 1990s. It seemed everywhere you looked there was another "daycare abuse scandal". But it turned out many if not most of those allegations were false but still many peoples lives were ruined along the way.

While there is a danger of that happening, there is a difference in the cases which have come to light so far. We have independent corroboration of some of the events, confessions by some of the accused, and recordings of at least one of the people (Weinstein). The only one who looks like they might be peddling some false stories is Corey Feldman.

I have no idea what Roy Moore did or did not do 40 years ago. I do know however that Roman Polanski was convicted of child rape in a court by a jury 40 years ago.

There is a significant difference between the two cases.
