He’s definitely talented. Much funnier the Carlin, IMO. I think he has a better chance of salvaging a career than the other Hollywood sex offenders. The accusations are much milder, albeit humiliating — requesting consent to masturbate is the mildest form of sexual misconduct. Even his apology was comedic gold:

Anthony Weiner must be kicking himself for not moving to Alabama.

Which is good that he admitted it, but then one has to address the fact that he did it, which is where the frustration comes in. Someone like Louis C.K. should be smart enough, aware enough, that masturbating in front of people who cannot tell you no (with any kind of authority) is a bad idea. It's worse than bad, it's downright stupid, and it feeds into the toxic atmosphere that I thought he fought against. For me, that's the real shame.

Reading his admission/apology, he makes it clear that he originally convinced himself his actions were okay because he always asked first, and he wasn't technically in a position of power over his victims, until he recognized that respect and admiration he received from younger, less famous comedians did arguably put him in a position of power over them. I can see the argument both ways. Do I have the power to make or break new entry-level employees at my job? No. Do they think I do, because of my position and experience? Probably.

There is a difference between not throwing him in jail without a proper trial and making him your poster boy for morals and family values. What people are saying is there might be someone else you should endorse for the Senate aside from someone who even you admit probably did what he is accused of.

The first poll since the allegations came out shows Moore and Jones tied at 46 percent. (It is a "likely voters" poll as opposed to an "all registered voters" poll, which is where that one outlier poll from a while back seems to have gone wrong, but it still seems too early to attach a lot of significance to it -- first because it's so soon after the news, second because no other poll has duplicated the results.)

In related news, apparently Republicans are trying to see if they can get away with pushing the election back a couple of months.

I will hold off judgment to see if he changes. I can understand making a mistake and correcting his behavior, and trying to make an apology for it. However, if he has a problem it will continue and then we will see. As for the people who had to put up with it I leave their forgiveness up to them, and any punishment up to the companies he is involved with and the court system. I never watched him for his moral compass and felt he was someone to be emulated or looked up to like I did with Cosby. I really thought Cosby was a good decent guy and bought into his image. It is not that I think Louis ck is a bad guy, but I have lost some respect for his common sense. I would have thought he would have acted more professional behind the scenes. It is also not like Kevin spacey who I think is a diva asshole now. I always imagined him as being more decent also, and he just seems to be a giant douchebag all around.

Now I am going to take @TheLonelySquire off ignore because I want to hear how he feels when Roy Moore's relations with a fourteen year old girl are justified by claiming they were like Mary and Joseph considering Roy was a married man at the time he played around with this girl.

A link to the story, but I will accept some justification or correction from other sites as part of the argument. If you feel the justification was misconstrued I would love to hear it explained by you or some other godly person who respects Roy Moore. I would also like to hear how you can accept a person who is so sinister if you do condemn him.

Roy Moore says he "may" have dated teen girls when he was in his 30's. The guy did it, it is not a conspiracy involving 30+ people who all back up the claims, poodle and Zombie are running off to conspiracy theory land because they desperately want it to not be true. The only problem is it is true.

Avtually, I am a little torn here. He says he asked for permission first, none of the women worked for him in any way, he had no power to hire or fire, they were just fellow free lancers.

Now, he was certainly behaving boarishly and one would hope he wpuldn't masterbate because... Ick. He has said that these women looked up to him because he was a successful comic but this still doesn't look like classic sexual harassment because no one was in an employer-employee relationship.

Asking anyone if you can masturbate in front of them is fucked up, even more so that he thought it was acceptable behavior.

IIRC the girls he was referring to were at least 16 at the time so no crime.

When your defense is “don’t worry the age of consent is lower here” you lose a lot of good will from most people. But Alabama isn’t “most people” and he’ll probably still do well. That’s what happens when your state is founded on cousin fucking and slavery.

That really says all we need to know about the Christian Right today.

This election reminds me of Trump v. Clinton because you have a candidate who is completely unqualified against a candidate who is qualified, but the nod goes to the unqualified person because the electorate skews stupid and ideological. If Moore makes it to the Senate he will be more disliked than Ted Cruz.
