I was just in Sam's Club buying some office supplies. Included in my needs were AA Batteries. Sams's offered 24 Energizer batteries for $10.00, and 48 Member's Mark batteries for $11.00 (essentially... obviously not on the mark exactly price wise - was a dollar's difference). I know that a major manufacturer makes them... I'm just not sure which one. Any ideas?
Nope. It says "Distributed by Sam's, Bentonville AR" ETc. Nothing about the maker, just country of origin - the USA.
Who cares? Even if they are only a little better than half as good as the name brand, it's still a good deal.
And odds are they are just as good as the name brand. Snatch them up and give them a try. If they suck well it's no big deal.
Why not give us a little experiment ? Hook up your Sam's battery and an Energizer battery each to a little lamp or something and tell us which goes dead first.
I don't buy batteries from anyone else but Sam's Club. If I run out of AAA's for the remote, I'll go to Sam's and buy the 48 pack of AA/AAA combo. I know I'll use them eventually. I've never seen the Member's Mark batteries there, though. I'll keep an eye out for them...
I've never seen the 48 pack AA/AAA combo. I will look for this, grasshopper. Still wondering who makes Sam's Club brand batteries!
I haven't bought AA batteries (or 9-volts, for that matter) in years. When the batteries that power my wireless microphone transmitters at work lose enough of a charge that they won't power the units, they still have enough juice to power a teevee or dvd remote for months. I will admit to not always using the "dead" batteries, though.
Assuming there's no value in not having to change them as often. Or in not having to carry extra batteries if it's for a device that you take out somewhere.
I have no way of knowing if this is true, but it is a post I found on a Tech BBS: Hmmm. Source. Hmm...given that it surely is possible that Member's Mark could be a duracell battery with the MM logo on it.
