A new Star Wars movie is opening this Friday, and I find myself not caring in the least.

EDIT: Okay, that's not entirely true. I will most likely rent it on DVD but this will be the first Star Wars film that I will not pay to see in the theatre. That's how much damage Lucas has done to my soul. :weep:

I might, if I decide to go to see something and it's the only thing that I haven't seen or am remotely interested in. But not specially.

Yawn. I'm only mildly interested. I don't think I'll be trekking to the theater for it.

It's a shame that the Clone Wars cartoons are so much better than the recent Star Wars movies.

For me, it's not so much that Lucas raped my childhood. It's more that I can't get over how awful the voice acting (especially Yoda) and how childish the writing looks from the trailers. And given the writing in the prequel trilogy, that's saying something.

Not much interest here. I've said it before - the Clone Wars as executed in the prequels was a half-baked idea that is better left alone. There's no suspense, we all know how the story ends. And why break continuity and give Anakin a padawan learner that we obviously never saw in the films? Padawans are allowed to train junior padawans?

Early reviews are lukewarm at best. And AICN is currently engulfed in controversy because Harry Knowles posted a review trashing it and was then forced by Lucasfilm lawyers to pull the review until Friday. Harry Knowles loved Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones. If he's pissing on this new travesty, then it can't be good.

I don't consider a computer game cut scene played out on the big screen to rake in a few extra bucks through filling in what's left of that gaps in the so called saga to be a Star Wars movie. I shall not even bother with the DVD and instead will sit down and enjoy a re-watching of Return of the Jedi.

Harry Knowles is a tit, and the Clone Wars cartoons I've seen were pretty good regardless of overall plot knowledge.

I was riffing on the joke from the movie 'Spaceballs,' Mel Brooks' Star Wars parody that had a Jabba-like gangster called 'Pizza the Hutt,' which is a funny reference to the pizza restaurant chain Pizza Hut. Do you have Pizza Hut in Australia? If not, don't worry; you're not missing much...

Anakin wasn't a Padawan by this stage, I think,

He was. He was still a Padawan at the end of Episode II. However, the long hair in this suggests he got a promotion between Ep II and this trite.

Yes, Harry Knowles is a moron. Yes, AICN went down the shitter years ago when the people running the site began to fancy themselves Hollywood insiders and decided to turn the site from a spy/spoilers site into a corporate mouthpiece/advertising site to curry favor with their studio overlords. But what's he's also consistently been is a Star Wars/Lucas apologist. So if he hated this new kiddie cartoon flick, then it probably does royally suck.

I am excited about it, and I've even bought an action figure.

The Clone Wars cartoons were by and far the best thing to happen to the prequels. If it follows in the same vein as those, I will LOVE this movie.

Also, spoilers ahead for those who haven't seen the Clone Wars cartoons:

This Clone Wars movie seems to take place between episodes II and III as well, but I've noticed they repeat a few scenes, the battle between Asajj Ventress and Anakin on the jungle planet being the most recognizable one.

It's currently pulling a 44% (Rotten) rating at RottenTomatoes. And even the "fresh" reviews are like "Well, if you are mildly retarded and/or under the age of 10 and have absolutely nothing better to do, you might as well go see this movie." The only actually unqualified positive review is from a dude that looks more than a little like a younger version of George Lucas. Possibly...his clone!? :chris:

[OK. Actually the tool who wrote the positive review looks more like Kevin Smith, after receiving a queer makeover.]

George Lucas may not have "raped my childhood", but he certainly touched it in a very inappropriate place....

I'll pass. I actually did NOT like the Clone Wars cartoons, if only because the Godlike acrobatic maneuvers and telepathic abilities displayed in them did not mesh at all with the live-action stuff.

It just seems...silly to me. And not particularly entertaining, cause it keeps pulling me out of the moment.

I was in Wal-Mart last night and saw the updated version of the Millenium Falcon. Over two feet long, impressively detailed, a great toy. But $150? Just like when I was a kid - only the spoiled rich kids had the Falcon, or the AT-AT.

Wouldn't it be great if somebody released a really great new Star Wars movie in our lifetimes? Oh well...
