It was a legitimate question. Should the Help Desk really be a place where asking a legitimate question just gets you trolled through people coming up with a half-dozen clever ripostes instead of discussing the actual issue?

And as for the topic of this thread: again, given the poster, I'm not troubled by this. Dayton has an encyclopedic history of using the board administration and board features to troll, flame, deceive, manipulate, and otherwise get around rules. That's probably why no one is really shedding a tear, other than the crocodiles.

I suppose it's not unlike gturner in a way. @dayton has specifically admitted in the past that he uses neg reps to both troll and as a way of getting revenge against people that disagree with him or beat him in debates. Plus there's all the rest you mention, and where the rules are concerned he has admitted happily trying to get people banned.

That, to me, is some actively trying to disrupt a community and since message boards aren't democracies the owners are fully entitled to take action against those who are purposely trying to cause trouble, even if it seems unfair on the face of it. It isn't the way I'd deal with it because I don't think the Dayton has the talent to be effective at driving people away and everyone is wise to his ways and I'd personally try and be fair as possible, but at the same time when you consider all the boards Dayton has been banned from you'd think the man would be grateful he even gets to post anywhere like this now. I mean, here is a guy who turns up, brands us all as worthless inferiors hardly worthy of noticing or listening to and then complains because he's not given equal or preferential treatment!

They’ve had every right to toss you out years ago. Clearly, they want you to stay around.
