Why does American chocolate taste like crap?

    In the last 20 or so years there have been a ton of artisanal chocolate companies which have sprung up most of which are small and have, at best, regional distribution. That said they are easily found in most regions.

    Of the Hershey's offerings Mr. Goodbar seems to use traditional chocolate instead of the usual Hershey's junk so they taste better.

    You have to beware in Florida. You see, Florida is a place of commercialism and old people. It is profitable here to cater to the tastes of people who have no taste, literally. Old people really cannot taste things due to having degenerated olfactory senses and everything else. This is why they bitch about everything they eat. So the place you went probably uses stuff old people and tourists will eat because they want business. I tend to stay away from specialty places down here unless I can get some recommendations of people with functional taste buds.

    Now, next time I recommend not doing the stupid tourist thing and learn about where you are visiting before you start eating at any place with a shiny sign. Oh, and avoid Hershey park PA.

    Quit whining and spend some money on a QUALITY product. You should have tried the "John Wayne" 'chocolate' bars that came in the C-rations we were given by the Army in the '60's and '70's. Yummy!

    Was gonna say that you should try bakers chocolates, but I guess they are only in Nebraska. The mint ones keep my monthly hostility in check. :D
