Looking at the date of this post, I was traveling from Japan to San Diego for a military transfer and missed this entire exchange due to time differences and also not getting a phone till the next day.

But it's the same old BS being spewed today, so I missed nothing, I guess :clyde:

That aside, I was wondering how far it is to a voting station for most of you yanks? what sort of ID required? How long of a process is it?

Like, I think I had to drive once to vote when I lived in Brockville. Since I moved back to Tronna the furthest I've walked has been about 1/8 mile. Show'em my health card and voter registry coupon that came in the mail, tick off the box(es), and done.

You wish I was all the -ists and -phobes in the book, as much as you desperately want to pretend I've lived a life of comfort and ease, because that is the only way you have of engaging with people who don't obediently align with your opinions.

It's not bigotry if you don't use the slur words, and don't have a broken neck of a corpse in your hands at the moment.
Because Archie Bunker said the n-bomb every episode, and killed people.
    Oh, wait....

My presidential voting station is the trash can. I would flush the choice of POS, but they are so big they plug up the plumbing.

I feel bad for the mailman so I do not want him to have to carry the turd ballot 2 ways. Plus I live in the duh and voted for legalized weed back in the day and all we got was medical. I do have to say medical is cheaper over all with much better variety than dealers. I have had to swap nighttime for daytime availability though.

When I lived in California, mine was literally the next block over, but the one time I went in person was because I discovered I was still registered as a Libertarian thanks to my brainrot from this place in 2008 that I hadn't caught before 2020. Was overseas in 2012 and never got a ballot and HRC was already the winner in our June 2016 primary. That said, all I had to do on Super Tuesday was change my declaration to Democrat, turn in the mail in ballot and get a new one to vote for the Democrat candidate of choice. CA also sends you notifications via text once your mail in ballots have been received and officially counted and if your ballot gets returned to them if you moved, they'll text you that, too.

Nevada is fairly decent about mail in ballots too, although there's no notice via email either way. My city hall happens to be a long the route I walk my dog and also has a Pokemon Gym, so I went in person to vote "None of these candidates" in the Democrat primary last month cuz I learned this was an option

(And before y'all pull out pitchforks, yes, I'm voting Biden in November, I'm aware my vote actually matters here but since it's a very good chance it'll be the last primary we have in a good long while, why not vote my conscience?)

It's worth noting that I've lived in areas that are predominantly white and affluent and even in California with some of the strongest voter protection in the country people in the poor (and often Black/Brown) neighborhoods of Los Angeles have reported struggles to get to some in person polling, as have students who may or may not be state residents.

Or do anything remotely harmful on the basis of any "bias."

That's why the goalposts keep shifting towards "refusal to defer and apologize to any self-proclaimed 'marginalized' people. " It must be a positive obligation if your net is going to catch people who haven't done anything wrong.

That John Castle was way ahead of his time in terms of deeply aggrieved white guy yells at clouds. Pre-Trump’s candidacy!
