    BSG - TOS

There's a number of good, old shows out there that they're not showing. Instead, all we get is crap.

Problem with BSG is that there aren't enough episodes to do an extended rotation. They've showed it as a marathon on more than one occasion. Probably the same with Space 1999 and maybe a couple of the others--not enough eps that someone has packaged them for syndication.

ITV owns the rights for 1999 i think.

[edit] i was wrong they don't own the rights, just showing the fully-remastered versions on itv4 and itv-HD [edit]

Didn't you learn anything when they cancelled Muppetscape?

The Sci-Fi Channel is owned by a faceless megacorporation who only keeps the name out of brand loyalty and a vague statement about their programming.

It's all about money. It's cheaper to produce B-movies and more people watch wraslin than it is to create thoughtful dramas that only obsessive nerds watch. Hell, the only reason I'm convinced Battlestar Galactica lasted this long was the reaction they got from the miniseries. Sadly, they too have been infected by their mediocrity bug and are even planning a boring spin-off.

Space 1999 had two seasons, and IIRC, each was 26 eps. Definitely enough to air one ep a week for a year.

When I was laid up in the hospital last week, I was reminded why I save a bill a month on opting out of cable.
Sci-Fi was absolutely horrid, I couldn't even watch it.
I ended up watching TV land.

Remember when the names of cable channels actually told you something about their content?

MTV (Music Television), A&E (Arts and Entertainment) The Learning Channel, The Sci-fi Channel...

    American Movie Classics...

The clueless mouth-breather in the middle is the reason.

Wash your mouth out with soap and water! Don't know Search, and didn't care much for BSG, but UFO and the first series of Space: 1999 were excellent, and The Invaders was superb!

    But plenty of pure cheese!

Nothing beats watching Moonbase Alpha get swamped with foam or that episode with the intelligent rocks.
