Fine, whatever. WHY WON'T IT SHOW THE FONT TO BEGIN WITH?? AND WHAT THE #@#!@&$@&! IS IT DOING TO MY APOSTROPHES AND QUOTATION MARKS?!? Oh, right, I forgot. Style over substance, form over functionality. Nobody cares about a computer program that WON'T DO WHAT IT'S SUPPOSED TO DO as long as it all looks purty and stylish. Whatever. It's just possible that the font didn't bundle with the document properly, but then why are the stupid wanna-be apostrophes and quote marks undeletable, hmmm? I delete the y and the semi-circle hops over to the k . . . and on and on it goes. I try to type a " and it TURNS INTO A SEMI-CIRCLE. (Oh, and wanna know the punchline? I'm not having ANY such trouble with a .ppt that happens to contain the exact same font.) (Oh wow, another punchline. The Gallery assigned a gibberish filename to that image that includes "bad". How appropriate.)
You're expecting Word and Powerpoint to work well together? What do you think? That they're written by the same company or something?
This is really more of an issue with the politics behind font embedding. What it looked like happened with that document is that font embedding got lost somewhere in the shuffle. It's kind of a complex feature that often bloats the size of documents dramatically, so lots can go wrong. Hell, I've seen it go bad in Adobe products, and fonts make up a good deal of all their programs' functionalities! Do you have a workflow for both of these documents? For example: Word 2003 -> OpenOffice -> Word 2007 Powerpoint 2007 -> Powerpoint 2007 There might be a solution if we know more information.
Word2k3 --> Word2k7 Powerpoint2k3 --> Powerpoint2k7 I don't expect there to be a solution, really. At best, maybe it's relevant that in both cases I turned on font [-]bundling[/-] embedding long after I created each file. Interesting that font embedding isn't exactly a streamlined process, though. [edit] I, too, have completely different issues with Word2k3 . . .
Are they being saved in the 2007 format using the Compatibility pack on the 2003 end, or are they being converted from the 2003 format on the 2007 end? Might try switching it up. The other option would be to track down the offending font on the computer the document was made on, copy it out of the Fonts directory, then install it on the other computer, but that...is a little shady .
