But not as good as total consciousness, eh? What gets me is no one expressed concern about the sole gap between baba and a uniform being a slim psych evaluation. [oh, and I played HS football and two years of college football - - which is sorta like low-key army, and well more than Dayton I'd wager.]
I've shot quite a few weapons, including the M249 SAW and the RPD. Both guns would probably make Dayton shit his pants.
I'd love to know the story behind it, but when I got to Iraq the SAW I was given was Canadian. Had a frickin maple leaf stamped on one side and: Canadian Forces Canadines on the other. Even had a weird serial number starting off 87AC instead of just the straight numeric serial numbers of American SAWs.
I played Risk a lot as a kid. Also, I was actually in the military. Also, I've worked for DoD for the last 30+ years. Draw your own conclusions.
Honorary crewmember of the USS Avenger: NCC-1860 out of New Brunswick. Permanent diplomatic attaché to the Camp Dover Peace Conference.
These sound like interesting stories. Which probably means this thread isn't a good place to ask about them...
I played CounterStrike once. Also, fired some guns at the FBI's Fourth of July picnic at their training grounds northeast of Vancouver.
Short answer, the Avenger is a fan-run group in Jersey that hosts cons, author readings, and fundraisers. They invited me to a number of gigs when I lived in NY; even had a stretch limo pick me up at the house once...impressed the hell out of the neighbors. In fact, their commanding officer invited me to join my first-ever message board, then introduced me to the TrekLit forum on TBBS and got me on Marco Palmieri's radar, which led to my return to the franchise. Camp Dover was a fan-run con in Ohio that boasted the largest gathering of Klingons in the U.S. (as well as visitors from Canada, Germany, and the UK). Good times...
- my Dad was in the Navy and I've got his old "Sea Bee" jacket - I once took a semester-long ROTC class in college - I've worked for two different Defense contractors AND the Dept. of the Navy - I once toured a Trident submarine : : Thus, more military experience than Dayton...
I played with Green Army Men when I was 5-6. My entire platoon was lost to a garden spade, and Mattel Godzilla. More military experience than Dayton.
Once owned a large set of "G.I.Joe". Not those pissy little 3-inch "action figures" they have these days, but the real ones that stood 12 inches tall, were fully articulated, had Kung-fu-grip™, and were stored in their own military-style footlocker. My goddamn toys had more military experience than Dayton.
Do you think Dayton's wife and daughter are aware that a bunch of strangers on the Internet constantly pile on him for shit like this? I'll bet in his own home and town he goes unchallenged.
