Short answer, the Avenger is a fan-run group in Jersey that hosts cons, author readings, and fundraisers. In fact, their commanding officer invited me to join my first-ever message board, then introduced me to the TrekLit forum on TBBS and got me on Marco Palmieri's radar, which led to my return to the franchise.
