Just wondering... Do any of you use it? How easy is it to set up and install? I heard some people now use this software for websites. The reason why I ask is because my programmer told me the community is really active in adding things to it, like SEO plug ins, podcasts, and moar.
Storm, Flow, and I all use it--that's just off the top of my head. I use it with GoDaddy and it is fairly painless to set up. I had one false start because I didn't read some instructions, but all told it took about 36 hours to get the site up and running and about 15 minutes of work on my part (most of the wait was for configuration on the host side). There's a buttload of templates out there you can use if you're just getting your feet wet, but you can completely tweak the entire thing yourself and it is a fairly slick tool for setting up a website if you have some time to experiment around.
I'm pretty sure Wordpress boasts a "five minute install", and while it won't look polished afterwards, it'll get you up and running. It's easily one of the gold standards out there. A fine system.
Its fairly easy to use, and inexpensive. I've heard that squarespace is better, but I've never used it, so I've no idea.
Ok, I would like to try this out. I downloaded the zip file they asked me to download, and I can't make heads or tails of the instructions. I know I am suppose to configure a wp-config thing, but then it says: If you are installing WordPress on your own web server, follow the Using phpMyAdmin or Using the MySQL Client instructions below to create your WordPress username and database. What the heck is phpMyAdmin and/or a MySQL Client? Do I need to take a course to use this? So much for the 5 minute install. If you're a webmaster, maybe, but not for the average person.
phpMyAdmin is a very common interface for managing sql. I'm calling you right now to walk you through.
