    We're not idiots, Stallion...duh! :finger:

(But I'll bet we could've beaten England!) ;)

Damned impressive showing by the Germans. I may have to update my bracket...not sure I see anyone beating them as it is. I had Netherlands winning it all, but they haven't been as solid lately, and I'd say it's damned near 50/50 that they'll get past Argentina. Either way, Germany has got to be the favorite now!

    Damn....

It's like the Germans blitzed them into fine dust. I'm surprised there wasn't riots.

Yeah, we're gonna make that brag anyway.

    US almost tied Germany
    Germany crushed Brazil
    Therefore US > Brazil

    It's science!

Anyway, this score was shockingly lopsided. Has there ever been a World Cup game won by six points before this?

There have been several. The most recent one was Portugal over North Korea 7-0 in 2010.

How about in a semi-final, where both teams are supposed to be the best of the best of the best?

I got burned out on soccer when I lived in Suffolk England , so I have yet to watch a game. I am glad to hear that Brazil was soundly beaten today though. I am tired of hearing about them and now they know they are nothing but a third world .

How the fuck do you score a touchdown in soccer?!??!

I was wearing my '04 Germany jersey today. Have to make sure to wear it in the final.

    Oh and:

Well, in some cases you can get three points! :async:

Or maybe gul was tactfully referring to the Brazilian experience being like a relegation six-pointer!:bailey:

OK, you can get points from the result of a game, but not what the 'merican was talking about. ;)

I can appreciate that point, as it drives me crazy when people speak of points in baseball games. But as I've matured, I've gained the ability not to be an ass about it.

Yea, but your talking about 'Rounders' a game we play in primary school (grade school). Footballs a way more serious topic! ;)

Are you kidding? You don't even have to know how to hit in Rounders. Totally different game.

The Germans usually reserve that level of beatdown for the French.

Interesting comparison of the total salaries of the USMNT compared to the teams we played.

    http://www.sounderatheart.com/2014/...e-usa-v-opponents-in-wc2014-salary-comparison

US players earned about half of the next lowest (Ghana) 77m v 153m. Germany is 8 times, Belgium 6 and Portugal 5 times the salary.
Ronaldo alone makes nearly double the entire US squad 133m v 77m.
DeAndre Yedlin shut down one of the most dangerous players in the world for 90 minutes, making 1/1144th of Hazard's salary 53k v 61m.

Looks like Americans are undervalued relative to output. The Rodney Dangerfields of the soccer world.

    Oh, here's a fun game!

If you're from a shitty ass has been country where soccer is all you've got, but you still exit the World Cup before America, where soccer is the fifth biggest sport, THE LAST TWO TOURNAMENTS raise your hand.

I love how throughout the thread you've tried to troll me with that crap over and over, yet my only comments on England in this whole thread were that they are shit, full of overpaid prima donnas and I expected them to go out at the group stage with a whimper - which is exactly what happened. I've ben far more interested in how the Spurs players have performed. Plus, in contrast to your fruitless trolling I've paid your lot a couple of compliments so do try to keep up. You aren't gonna get any rise out of me with the "England are shit" line and it's laughable how you keep trying. It's also separately amusing that you think one visit to the play offs makes you world beaters - and if you really want to keep forcing the comparison to England, this was actually England's earliest exit since 1958, so really you can flip what I've said to the extent that if a few years of good form doesn't make world beaters, then a few years of bad form doesn't mean dead and buried. International football doesn't work like that - and if it's not just a new hipster fad for you and you're still watching it in 30 years time you'll find that short termism in football often comes back to bite you.

So you're going to threaten me with a rule breach even though you've been the one trolling in this thread?

    Disgraceful.

 Calm down Nancy! Rules as in the rules of the little game I made up two posts ago (thus the reference to handraising).

You really need to relax and stop taking everything so personally, you'll give yourself a heart attack!
