Awesome! We collapse and then swoop in to fill our own vacuum - or is that just what we want ourselves to think?
But the thing is, that corporation already has a set of laws an procedures. Imagine the "government" being that of a corporation. The United States of Nestle. France is now known as Target. /tar-shay/ "Yes. I'd like to buy a first class flight to Bank of America. Formerly Japan."
I agree with you here, but corporations aren't the only entities I trust less. I would be even more concerned to see religions running the economy, for example.
I get paid in Oprahbux. That said, while it is quite stable, I think I'd prefer currency minted by Yoyodyne Propulsion Systems, Weyland-Yutani Corporation, or possibly NewsCorp.
And babies. I'd be pretty concerned if babies had control over our nukes. The big, shiny, red button is too tempting not to push for a baby.
Gift certificates/cards are basically a company's own currency. Between eBay and Amazon, there's not a lot you can't get with them. There's a slight convertibility issue, but seeing as you can sell Amazon gift cards on eBay (and probably vice versa), it's not totally out of the question.
I knew I was off a little. So what corporations do you think are poised to step in if the US can't hack it?
