I refuse to listen to the internet what I would do in a zombie outbreak. Besides, that book is garbage. The author is of the paranormal, superhuman school of zombies, when clearly any real zombies would be infected humans. They're not hard to kill, these zombies, you just have to keep your wits about you and be a good shot.
So basically, I would take the same precaution against zombie attack that I would against the aftermath of a hurricane?
Take a Caterpillar 797, a crew of a 10 or 20, weld machine gun mounts along the rails, put living quarters and storage areas in the box. A highly defendable, mobile base. Zombies are... squishy.
It seems to me that medieval knights in full plate armor with swords are actually far better equipped to fight Zombies than most modern armorless firearms based militaries.
Indeed. Apparently, hurricane preparedness makes me much better off than I'd normally be: 38%, woo-whoo! Good thing we just spent $15,000 on unbreakable windows.
See, you'd think so. However, armored melee units require money and training that most militaries aren't willing to spend on an outdated method of warfare. And most RenFaire folk aren't likely to be fully equipped during a Zombie wave.
