Yeah, those pictures are kind of meh.

But in the movie, short shorts, a 60's hairstyle, and a flair for evil makes Gigantor happy.

Finally caught this one this week and liked it immensely, the cold-war spy thriller with super powers hit me just right. All things considered, I think I enjoyed this one more than either Thor or Green Lantern.

Finally saw it. Well done, I thought. And they nicely showed that a prequel can work. Be interesting to go back to the original movie and see how the continuity held together. I suspect they changed a couple things, but they did a fairly good job of it all told. I prefer a good story over continuity. Now that I think about it, the chess scenes between Xavier and Magneto tied in with the previous film series--as well as working as a metaphor. Lots of slick metaphors in the story. It worked like a Looney Tune--plenty of kewl FX for the kiddies and some neat subtle bits for the more sophisticated.

Nice costuming, nice dialog, and nice set design. They did a good job of making it a period piece but making it look sexy. The one thing that did amuse me about the set design was thinking that if they'd brought Spock along, he could've dealt with the reactor. (Or if Kirk would've had Kevin Bacon on the Enterprise, he wouldn't have had to search for Spock.)

A quick question: was there ever a Mirror Nightcrawler named Azazel? Or did they just gin him up because they needed an evil Nightcrawler to move the story along and didn't want to retcon Nightcrawler into an evil character from the 1960s? Interesting that Havok is now, apparently Cyclops' dad or something, instead of his younger brother.

Azazel is in fact Nightcrawler's dad, and Mystique is his mom.

I recently saw this as well and was very pleasantly surprised. Best of the X-Men movies (barely beating out X-Men 2), and easily one of the top 10 comic book movies ever.

Just watched this over the weekend. About as good as I expected, although Kevin Bacon seemed a little too "James Bond villain" for my taste (of course, it's a movie about mutants, so I suppose the villain should be cartoonish as well?).
