My 360 has functioned flawlessly. These "media studies" are normally bs.

Because they are already repairing them free of charge.

That's true! They have had phenomenal customer service and business practices related to this issue.

My old X360 finally gave up the ghost last week... after 4 years of faithful service. Hadn't used it a lot recently due to getting hooked into World of Warcrack so I think I overstretched it after replaying all my old favourites to see how they look on my new larger TV...

Nipped out and bought an Elite as they're on sale... just waiting for MS to ship a data transfer cable to 'port over all my DLC from the old drive (which is currently hooked into the new console as a stopgap).

Mine got to where it wouldn't read the disc so it was an open and close dance with the tray until it decided to catch, read. and run the disc in it.

I finally got tired of it last week and opened it up and cleaned the drive up a bit and wiped the lens and its worked alright from there so far.

It's not that old but I figured after the cat knocked it from the top of my server tower about six feet up to a cable entangled fall to the floor less than a month after I got it the warranty was pretty much all but out the door anyway.

    BREAKING SEAL WILL VOID WARRANTY!!!1!

    Pfft.

Looking to get another one next year though the Elite sale was tempting.
