I saw that earlier. I was surprised at the cancellation since it had been doing the best in it's time slot of anything CBS had aired.

Good to see it's coming back.

This is good and it's horrible...

This just validates every lame-ass "Save our show" campaign when some crappy show gets cancelled (I'm not calling jericho bad....you know what I mean).

I'm not sure the quality of Jericho earned itself the right to a sophomore season :marathon:

Honestly, it got a lot better once the network execs got their mitts off it. Not great, but decent entertainment.

Uh, it doesn't say that it was renewed, just that CBS was reconsidering renewing it.

Here's a link confirming the renewal. That was was a day or so old:
    http://jerichoboard.cbs.com/n/pfx/f...ages&webtag=CBSMBJericho&tid=13329&redirCnt=1

If TPTB even made a mention that it was being re-considered, chances are good that they're gonna renew it. These are most of the same people who flat out said "No, we won't renew ENT," and posted photos of the cleaned-out set in
    response to that campaign.

Not quite. Fans of the show pointed out that this show (which started out with 11 million viewers and ended with about eight million) was hurt a lot by that two-month break in between December and February. There was no promotion about the show at all at that time, nor any re-runs that let those who don't have high-speed connection catch up on the show. You'd that TPTB would have done a better job of promoting one of their most successful shows (Ratings wise) . They did a whole media frenzy eight years ago with CSI.

it doesn't matter what the reason is...

All the petitiononline people will know and repeat is "Jericho was cancelled and a fan campaign saved it" logic won't enter into it.

This certainly isn't the first fan campaign to save a show...people were quoting the saving of "Star Trek" in '69 as an example during the Save Enterprise campaign of 04-05.

I just hope that Jericho doesn't suffer the same fate as Trek and Sentinel and Enterprise after being saved

To be fair, Les Moonves was looking for an excuse to kill Enterprise anyway. At the very least, Jericho has the whole 18-49 age bracket going for it (It's the only thing Moonves and Co. give two shits about anyway). Plus, they calculated in DVR recording, which also boosted the ratings another ten percent or so, IIRC.

I think what really killed ratings was lack of promotion and that two-month long break. If ratings didn't plummet during all that "As The Nuclear-bombed World Turns" soap opera bullshit, surely people would have cared in the second half when people actually did shit.

I guess this means I'll have to go to CBS' innertube site to catch up the second half of the season.

I had originally intended to watch this show at the start of the season last fall, but for one reason or another I never recorded it, probably figuring it would get canceled after 4 episodes like everything else this season.

So when it turned out to be somewhat successful, I then started thinking of watching this on DVD when it came out, but then I heard it wouldn't return for a second season, plus it ended with a big cliffhanger. After having been previously burned many times with cliffhangers (especially John Doe. FOX  ), I was weary. But as long as they're putting out a second season, I'm gonna try getting into this show.

However, CBS doesn't seem like the right network for this show, especially considering their favoritism of shitty cop/lawyer shows.

Yeah, I think CBS has only just gotten the memo that people like serialized shows, hence the creation of Jericho. They really need to build some more solid front-running shows. CSI isn't going to be around forever, since the older a show is, the more expensive it is for plenty of reasons, including actors' salaries. And ratings for reality TV shows are going down across the board, including for the Network Godzilla known as American Idol, it's only a matter of time (I hope) before numbers get too low to continue that shitbag "Big Brother" that no one's cared about since the second season.

Still, I'm just happy enough to see a conclusion to the season (not series, thank god!!!) finale.
