Again, yes there were antifa there - that's their gig to show up and confront what they see as evil (and in this case they were right) - but the Nazi's planned this for month and went about it in a very systematic way and got the reaction they intended to provoke from the people they intended to provoke.

Whatever the (great many) faults of antifa, they oppose Nazis and Nazis SHOULD be opposed. I think it's a VERY convenient narrative for the Nazis to have folks who, ostensibly, don't support them perpetrate the trope that the Nazis came to be peaceful until antifa attacked them. You do not show up to your planned "free speech" rally armed to the gils because you intend for things to be peaceful. And I doubt seriously anyone can document the claim of "this side attacked with violence first" which is also what they intended, enough chaos that they could both deny responsibility and use the event to attack the left.

Many liberals and conservatives both are great at the double standard when it comes to political violence. Sorry, it's wrong, accept that and double down on more effective methods, methods that don't involve assault/murder charges. You can't bring about change from behind bars these days because that's played out - there's no martyr effect to being locked up, everyone gets locked up for something these days.
