Okay, point taken - I guess I don't think of those horrible past things, which were outright racism and bigotry, in the same regard as college kids not being able to handle opposing viewpoints that make them uncomfortable, getting actors fired for tweets that make them uncomfortable, or people boycotting whole companies because something the CEO did made them uncomfortable. Thought that, too, is a form of prejudice that should be discouraged.

Yea, it's too bad people feel like they need a safe space to wear their red MAGA hats. They should be able to wear them just like their parents and grandparents were able to wear their white sheets with pride and no one called them racists.

FFS, not this shit again. She was fired because she tweeted shit her employer disagreed with. A private company doing what they have every right to do. Oh, wait.... you just want private companies to be able to fire people only when the CEO isn't making enough money cuz they gotta pay someone ...

like firing people because he wasn't making enough profit.

Or, maybe people ought to just not be assholes.

    AOC:

Okay, seems the KKK thing was mostly propaganda. Mostly.

Still pretty sure he's a sock puppet, doing whatever the extreme left tells him to do.

Even taking the links at face value, what AOC is calling for is not an "enemies" list or a "revenge" list. What she said was that people should archive the pro-Trump tweets and sayings that Trump supporters have put forth so they can't pull revisionist history and pretend they were against Trump all along and the like.

Nothing about revenge there or enemies or any of that.

And of course, a lot of people who were in politics back then could be said to be hanging with the KKK if associating with Byrd could be called that.

What exactly has Biden done that the extreme left (or even the left in general) wants him to do, other than the sorts of things that everyone should want him to do like push Covid vaccination and express condolences to the victims of shootings and murders?
And of course, basically every congressperson who was present when Byrd was could be similarly described as "hanging with the KKK."

All that outrage created over a single tweet.

Which is nothing close to your claim. They just took the tweet and ran with it. Fucking RW Media Bubble.

Because no one on the left has ever taken a single statement and created outrage over it.

Are you kidding? Whoever decided to spin the "grab 'em by the pussy" braggadocio into the stratosphere, for one? Warping Gina Carano's hyperbolic silliness into antisemitism and getting her fired? Come on. Everything everyone says is blown up all over the media these days. Everybody's looking for the next outrage to paint the opposition with mud.

Including the reason Gina Carano was fired. Unless you were in that office at the time, or have access to her employment record at Disney, you're just as full of shit as is everyone you accuse.

I don't think that a presidential candidate bragging that he gets to grab women by the genitals because he's a star and they let them do it is something that is overblown. Especially when that person had about a couple dozen allegations of sexual misconduct or harassment against him. But YMMV.

Or, just possibly, you assume the worst in people and respond according to that assumption?

Haven't you noticed a pattern in your interactions? The rest of us certainly have.

Surprisingly some people go into an Internet discussion room wanting to actually discuss things or, heaven forbid, make some friends.

Thank you. I'd already found AOC's tweet. Your statement she "wants to make a revenge list" is false.

The articles are poorly written. I'd suggest politico as a moderate source:
    https://www.politico.com/news/2020/11/09/aoc-cancel-worked-for-trump-435293

And Biden didn't "hang with the KKK". Your statement is false.

Unless of course you've bought into the batshit crazy far right you should admit you were wrong. Your statements are inflammatory and based on prejudice.

Come on, do you guys pay attention to history at all? AOC is a leftist, and the first thing leftists do after taking power is round up their "enemies" for "re-education" or worse. How many times do we need to watch it happen before you believe it? Russian, China, VietNam, Cuba, Venezuela . . .
Of course the far right does the same thing. Which is why extremists of any stripe are dangerous and to be restrained. Any time you encounter a "true believer" you can bet there's a Helter Skelter moment lurking behind their eyes.

It's pretty clearly projection. UA assumes the worst because he is the worst.

Edit: I forget that you are relatively "new" to the board, even though it feels like you've already been here quite a while. UA has a pattern of this type of behavior and interactions dating back 15+ years.

There is a reason this is his smiley:

Yup, fundamentalism of any stripe tends towards intolerance.

Although I'd question how far or inflexibly left AOC really is. Out of the US system would she be free to become unfettered or would she start to appear moderate?

I have no doubt that AOC believes herself to be concerned with the public good, for helping people. It's just that her particular version of "help" inevitably leads to tyranny.

She is moderate. That's the part that scares the bejesus out of people like Lanz. They know they have contributed to pushing the country too far right, but they'll be damned if they'll let it go back left even just an inch.

The Democrats barely have "seized power," and within the Democratic party, AOC, the Squad and Bernie are a long way from taking power, as demonstrated by pretty much all objective reality. For instance, the number of committees that they run, the bills that they have passed, the influence they have on Biden, etc. By any metric other than the level of histrionics they inspire, they are pretty far from lining up their enemies in front of a firing squad.

AOC is a leftist in the vein of Scandanavian countries and much of Europe, and we know how many purges leftists there have orchestrated.

Also, the bothsideism is particularly weak in light of an insurrection attempt where people were literally trying to track down congresspeople and VP Pence and potentially kidnap and murder them.

I realize you're probably trolling because no one can be so stupid as to believe this.

But assuming you are that stupid, and if what you claim is true (that leftists, upon gaining power, round up their enemies for reeducation or mass murder), why has that never happened in the US every time we've had a liberal President, Congress, state governor, etc.?

Don't you think that might make the news or be in our history books?
