If you could choose your own personal Saturday morning show menu, how would it go? Mine goes like this: 0645: Wake up, get gargantuan bowl of cereal (Fruity Pebbles or Chocolate Frosted Sugar Bombs, of course) and turn on TV. 0700: Speed Racer 0730: Star Blazers 0800: Thundarr 0830: Macross 0900: Starship Troopers 0930: Captain Scarlett 1000: UFO (Live action) 1100: Get kicked outside by Mom and Dad. 1200: Lunch

Course, I dunno if Galaxy Rangers the show would hold up if I saw it, but I know I loved the opening and the unashamedly 80's cheese themesong. [YT=Galaxy Rangers opening]HMpsAmWbSJg[/YT] Edited to include.... [YT=GR end theme]IvWtI4NZjTI[/YT]
yugioh, pokemon, and dragonball z the entire time. Hooray crappy new japanese cartoon fads! God Damn does saturday tv now suck. In all seriousness, I wouldn't mind watching ramen's saturday schedule
Okay, here's mine. Ghostbusters Galaxy Rangers JL JLU Batman TAS Thundarr Duck Tales Tenchi Muyo (yeah, what the hell, uncensored nudity in the first season, it's done so playfully, it wouldn't hurt kids) EDIT- (okay, episode 7 would just have to go, that's raunchy, but everything else...)
The cartoons I want to see on Saturday morning don't exist. What I would LOVE to see would be two one hour cartoons based on comics. One in the DC Universe and one in the Marvel Universe. These shows would not have a set cast, but would have an ongoing story arc in the same vein as "Heroes", with an ensemble cast. I don't necessarily mean "JLA" or "The Avengers", but each episode would focus on different characters from their respective universes. For example one week the DC series would be Superman-centric, the next Lobo. Marvel would focus on Doctor Strange one week, and the next on The Incredible Hulk. The stories would be more or less ripped from the pages of the comics, and not violate printed canon to an absurd degree, and not take too many liberties with the origins of the characters, their personalities etc.
Underdog/Gigantor etc. - I don't remember them being that good, so it's on first in case I oversleep from sugar hangover. Classic Loony Toons - Bugs Daffy Porky etc. Diaper Man and Rope Man et al. (I think called "Mighty Heroes" or something) Speed Racer Half hour of the 60's Marvel toons Half hour of the 60's DC toons Half hour of cartoon related documentaries - to feature stuff like Farscape's cartoon episode, or Bugs Bunny's Kill the Rabbit version of Wagner's Valkyries, but stuff that maybe I've never seen yet - e.g. racist cartoons from the past, original toons and the modern PC versions. and closing with SP Now I'll go read everyone else's since I probably forgot a couple.
Could we just have it start at 9AM instead of 7? I ain't draggin myself outta bed that early any more.
I can think of a few off the top... In no particular order... Classic warner bros cartoons. unedited. Classic Tex Avery cartoons. unedited. Samurai Jack. JLU. Starblazers. And TAS. (Gotta have TAS)
Star Trek TAS Jason of Star Command (remember that one?) Classic Bugs Bunny/Road Runner Classic SpiderMan, from back in the 70s Batman, the earlier series, not the later one SpongeBob Squarepants Fairly Odd Parents Then bowling. Remember when ABC used to carry the Pro Bowlers Association?
samurai jack smurfs fraggle rock care bears inspector gadget samurai champloo johnny bravo futurama boondocks transformers rainbow brite king of the hill oh, and if we can have cartoon movies too, I'd like to add heavy metal and the secret of nimh.
Start off with some Joy of Painting episodes then a few rounds of golf followed by some soccer highlights. With that line-up one could sleep well past noon.
Sigmund Land of the Lost Bugs/Road Runner (90 minute) Battle Of the Planets Dangermouse Count Duckula Shazaam/Isis (live action) Old Transformers Old GI Joe Bandstand & Soul Train means its time to go outside... Prime Time Lineup: 8:00 - Ren & Stimpy 8:30 - King of the Hill 9:00 - Simpsons 9:30 - Futurama 10:00 - Family Guy 10:30 - Beavis & Butthead After the 11:00 news - Celebrity Deathmatch
Challenge of the Superfriends - Where they battled the Legion of Doom. Bugs Bunny Jason of Star Command Thundarr Ark II Land of the Lost - Original of course Tom and Jerry Isis Shazam/Captain Marvel
I Can't possibly be bothered to have the TV on before 8 on a Saturday, and that's a sacrifice... 8:00- Underdog 8:30- Rocky and Bullwinkle (I take considerable pride in being the first to mention this) 9:00- George of the Jungle 9:30- Looney Tunes 10:30- TAS 11:00- Batman TAS 11:30- Superman TAS 12:00- JL/JLU 12:30- Roughnecks 1:00- Johnny Weismuller Tarzan Movie! 3:00- NAP!!
In no particular order: Captain Caveman Dangermouse Count Duckula Dungeons and Dragons Battle of the Planets Bagpuss The Clangers The Muppets Roobarb & Custard
The best part about the live action Shazam was the Captain Marvel actor was beefy and looked half-lit in his scenes. You could imagine him off camera drinking scotch and smoking cigarettes. He looked like he got winded running across the parking lot.
If we are starting at 7am, then Bugs Bunny and Tom & Jerry are what I'd start off with. I always remember those two shows being super early. 7:00am Bugs Bunny 7:30am Tom & Jerry 8:00am Hercules/Rocket Robin Hood 8:30am Dungeons & Dragons 9:00am Transformers (Generation 1, none of that Beast Wars crap) 9:30am Transformers (see above) 10:00am G.I. Joe 10:30am Jem & the Holograms 11:00am Smurfs 11:30am Batman TAS 12:00pm Justice League 12:30pm Spiderman 1:00pm Belle & Sebastian 1:30pm Bear Called Jeremy I'd then spend the rest of the afternoon playing video games on my Atari 2600.
I miss the years when WPIX in NY would run an Abbott and Costello film every Sunday morning. Not to drift away from cartoons, but I've got my own nostalgic weekend programming going right now. During lunch Sat and Sun, and again in late afternoon, I'm cycling through: Miami Vice Mission Impossible Hawaii 5-0 Wild, Wild, West Having a blast!
