X-Files, Babylon 5, Simpsons, Discovery Channel (back when it had meaningful documentaries and not all this home decor/idiots with motorcycles/crab fishing business)
When I was younger I was very much into the "superhero" types of shows. I used to enjoy watching The Six Million Dollar Man, occasionally The Bionic Woman, Wonder Woman among others. I enjoyed cartoons like Speed Racer, The Superfriends, and The Might Hercules. I have to admit, seeing some of the reruns for The Superfriends, it is amazing what they are.
<feels very old> Ultra Man Marine Boy Speed Racer Bugs Bunny Tom and Jerry Coyote and Roadrunner Batman whatever else was on Saturday mornings.
Awright, mebbe not so much "childhood", but as a "tween" I would say that one of them was about a crack commando unit that was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn't commit.
The Adventure Game. Dungeons and Dragons. Star Trek Battle of the Planets (Watching,... warning against surprise attacks by alien galaxies beyond space!) Rentaghost. The underwater world of Jacques Cousteau
Gilligan's Island, Fat Albert, Speed Racer, Ray Rayner, Batman, BJ and Dirty Dragon. We only had three channels (plus UHF and one public television channel).
60s Batman, 70s anime, and 80s Trek. Oh, and sitcoms. Loved sitcoms. Golden Girls. Roseanne. Growing Pains. Even Who's the boss. Anything with dumb but cute one-liners fired rapidly one after another. Of course, WF wasn't here to rub that particular spot back then.
Tonight - with Johnny!! It's never been the same without Johnny. Fridays - a guilty pleasure UFO (Gerry and Syliva Anderson) Space: 1999 Petticoat Junction Hee-Haw Saturday Night with Howard Cosell Monty Python's Flying Circus Welcome Back, Kotter Barney Miller Alias: Smith & Jones Ellery Queen NBC Sunday Night Mysteries Rockford Files
Out of this world Knight Rider Neighbours Fun House Mike and Angelo T-Bag The Wonder Years And lots more. As for cartoons, way, way too many to list here.
Astro Boy Gigantor 8th Man Kimba Marine Boy Diver Dan Wonderama Jungle Jim Superman Combat Rat Patrol Trek Lost in Space Batman Space Angel Bugs Bunny Tom & Jerry Huckleberry Hound Quickdraw McGraw Deputy Dawg Underdog Top Cat Jetsons Flintstones um um um....
Ha ha....forgot about the detective/cop shows! We had fat cops, crippled cops, horse-riding cops, lollipop sucking cops, husband and wife team cops, etc. etc.
I forgot "Wild, Wild West" with Robert Conrad. There was only ever one Jim West. Will Smith? "Ah, hell nuh!"
I've been watching it on DVD. Some typical 60s silliness generated by the Batman school of bright colors and loopy plots, but overall it's a blast.
Here are the ones I had to watch before I turned 10: Star Trek (original and animated) Banana Splits Gilligan's Island Superfriends Tom and Jerry Heckle and Jeckle Ark II (I watched a few episodes recently---didn't realize how ghey it was) Jonny Quest Happy Days and the one I HAD to watch every day: Wallace and Ladmo (a Phoenix kids show that ran from the mid 50s to the late 80s. R.I.P. Ladmo
Miss Minerva the Mermaid? The evil Baron Barracuda and his henchman Trigger Fish? The constant hazard of teetering rock?
Let me try this for a third damn time. Far Out Space Nuts Lidsville Land of the Lost The Ghost Busters - the one with Larry Storch and Forrest Tucker HR Pufnstuf Ark II Jason of Star Command Space Academy
The Adventures of the Gummi Bears comes to mind. It was super fun, there was always a take home lesson by the end of the episode, and who can forget the opening theme song? I love that all the 80's cartoons had these really seriously sung power ballards as their intros.
My best guesses for my favorites when I was younger... Age 3: Kimba the White Lion (which I TOTALLY don't remember and only know 'cause older people told me) Age 4: (tie) Speed Racer/Mr. Rogers Age 6: Emergency! Age 8: Battle of the Planets Age 10: The Dukes of Hazard Age 12: The Greatest American Hero Age 14: The A-Team Age 17: Moonlighting Age 19: Star Trek: The Next Generation
Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers, followed by Power Rangers, Pokemon, Digimon, Dexter's Labratory, Powerpuff Girls, and the classic Looney Tunes and Hanna-Barbara cartoons that aired on Cartoon Network [-]before they became Weeaboo Central.[/-].
Did you realise at the time that all the west saw was a terrible watered down version of a very violent show with about 1/3 of each episode cut?
