Since the Brits are cutting and running from Iraq, they should now have the resources to deal with this problem effectively. :bergman:

Indeed...enlightened, thoughtful Europe should have a solution to this in no time. And perhaps buy the masses some hamburgers while they wait.

It seems like something the Commonwealth should have been dealing with all along :bergman:

They made their bed, they can lie in it.

I'm sure they can take comfort in the knowledge that they no longer have to live with the indignity of white people owning land in their country and using it for productive purposes.

Chairman Mao already did. People should read it and do the exact opposite of everything it proposes.

Yep. Until and unless they invade a sovereign neighbor, the miserable internal affairs of shithole nations are precisely that.

And supposing they did invade some other nation. Why would that make a difference from OUR standpoint?

And when the nation in question is a strategic partner like South Africa? We turned our back on them because the leftists made Apartheid into something it wasn't and we forced them to change their internal politics and look where that ended up.

The blacks in South Africa were clearly unready to rule the nation, or even take part in any meaningful way. Apartheid, as cruel as it was, kept the joint from turning into a shithole. Once the leftists convinced the world it needed to be done away with, we put pressure on the whites to "do the right thing" and end Apartheid.

Take note of what happened next in South Africa.

There isn't much the Commonwealth can do in regards to individual nations, and as a result of the events which caused this situation (the land grabs and possible election fraud) Zimbabwe was indefinitely suspended from the Commonwealth.

Shortly after that Mugabe decided to withdraw the country entirely.

I see the results, and thanks for the history lesson, but you said 'the leftists made it into what it wasn't', which you have yet to explain.

What did the leftists portray it as, and what exactly 'was' it.

I think that kinda proves marathon's point. In response to this travesty, rhodesia can no longer participate in the Commonwealth Games, :ohnoes:

Actually, apartheid created the conditions that have caused the subsequent problems. If the race roles had been reversed but with everything else equal it would now be whites struggling to rule the country properly.

Also, while there are problems in South Africa there were plenty of problems before apartheid ended, they just weren't noticed as much due to them only happening to those unimportant black people.

The leftists portrayed it as Whites keeping Blacks down because Whites are EVIL. The reality is the Blacks were in no position to rule or even take part in government in any meaningful way and they needed the Whites to run the joint.

The Commonwealth is more than that, however ultimately all the nations in the Commonwealth are in it voluntarily.

I'd say it was the original colonial policies that were inherited plus the tribal factions within South Africa that caused the need for Apartheid in the first place. An independent South Africa had no other way to cope with the uncivilized blacks than to keep them in line until they could be able to cope with taking part in government.

OT, but how exactly did Mozambique find its way in there? It was Portuguese, not British.

America was not South Africa and South Africa was not America. Different places, different problems. The solution for our race issues wouldn't work there (not that they've really worked here).

You have to understand what the Commonwealth is to understand why. The Commonwealth is not a ruling body in any way, it is just a name to describe the voluntary relationship between various nations that gives benefits such as increased political discourse and shared common goals.

Actually not that OT, because it is an example of how despite the fact that the Commonwealth evolved from the British Empire, it is a completely different type of organization.

Simply, Mozambique asked to join, and several member nations were in favour of the idea. I'll quote Wikipedia rather than rewriting it:
