Wasn’t even SYG, it was straight up self-defense. That whole thing was a red herring.

Please find an example of this?

If no example, take your jump off the deep end hysterics and fuck off!

Also, thanks for educating us all on the Zimmerman case. It was before your time but glad your here now to tell us about it.

Tererun was all kinds of wrong in that post. If Trayvon would have been white (forgive my Monday morning quarterbacking) nobody would have heard a word about this, or it would have been limited to state news, not world news. Bottom line - "creepy white guy" following you but you don't SPRINT home when you are in danger, but instead call your friend then stick around to confront him or be confronted? :chris:We all saw the maps and aerial view of the neighborhood. Trayvon's body was found about 100 yards from his home. I'm 55 and I could sprint that in about 20 seconds even without a creepy old chubby white guy chasing me - faster than I can make a non-emergency phone call that's for sure. Maybe I missed something - was Trayvon in a wheelchair or using a walker? Damn media always leaves something out of the story.

Anna is right though - without Al or Jesse bringing pressure it would have fallen off the radar. The prosecution was forced to even go ahead with the case because they had two handfuls of jack squat and everyone knew it. I don't blame Al or Jesse - they stir the pot to make a living. If I had no real skills (like many clergy) I would do the same. Young, dumb and full of cum Trayvon bit off more than he could chew tangling with an overzealous dim-bulb on neighborhood watch and got shot. Take race out of the factor (good luck in the US with that - racial discord is a major industry) and we get a big  on the whole thing. Okay, I'm off my soapbox, call me a racist then when you calm down tell me where I am factually wrong in my assessment of the tragic situation.

It's hilarious to see you say something like this after repeatedly spewing racist shit at me in a pathetic attempt to troll me. Oh, but it doesn't really count, because reason, right? :diacanu:

Pfft! You don't need any proof or examples to accuse someone of racism! You just pull the pin on that hand grenade, toss it, and watch the results. :D

    1. There was no cutting corners. Watch the police interviews with Zimmerman. They were TRYING to catch him in a lie, trying to trap him. They told him things that weren't true (e.g., someone had videotaped the encounter) to see if his story would change. He didn't change his story and his story held up. They didn't charge him because they could find no evidence of a crime.

    2. It was never a Stand Your Ground case. SYG does not apply in this circumstance, nor did Zimmerman's defense ever invoke it. Everyone who mentions SYG in this case is either being completely ignorant of the facts, or is more interested in grinding a political ax than determining the truth.
Even scumbags are entitled to self-defense, and the evidence continues to support Zimmerman's story. People want to believe there's some sinister racist plot behind the whole thing, even if there's nothing to support that idea, and overwhelming evidence against it.

    There was no cutting corners.

The police knew pretty fast this was a case of self defense. Especially after they grilled Zimmerman for hours and Zimmerman without a lawyer present when back to the scene with the police and reenacts the events of that night. On videotape no less.

Out of all that the police found nothing to even look like Zimmerman was lying.

All the evidence they had was consistent with what Zimmerman was saying as well.

And all the witnesses were consistent with what Zimmerman was saying as well.

Also wrong. The original prosecutor Norm Wolfinger knew there was no case but was pressured into stepping down. Governor Scott at that point appointed Angel Corey who didn't care that there was no case she was going to charge Zimmerman no matter what.

The old you can beat the rap but you can't beat the ride maneuver.

True, but my point was that there was no case! There was no substance, it was a non-event "event" that plays out quite a bit on a regular basis in the US.
It's a mathematical certainty in a country with a population as large as ours and a shit-ton of people that say "fuck authority" and are hard-wired to not follow rules.

I have to admit I jumped the gun intially on this case. I watched the breathless media coverage, the claims made by activists (virtually none of which ended up being true), and even originally thought the virdict was wrong. The problem? I had incomplete information because the media I was watching was pushing a narrative and glossing over facts ehich the actual jury found to be key. Since then the full account has come out and we have gone over this event in great detail here so I now have to admit the facts were on Zimmerman's side.

He is still a jerk and his subsequent actions have proved that to be true but in the case at hand he was within the law.

    "stalking"???

Zimmerman was a hapless guy fumbling in the dark to find a street sign.

Not Roland the Headless Thompson Gunner.

Yeah "stalking" would mean Trayvon isn't interested in Zimmerman's continual romantic pursuits  or maybe they had a recent breakup and Zimmerman won't let it go.
