We still win on murders! But, yes, in terms of other violent crime, the U.K. is actually less safe than the U.S.
Guns are cheap here for the most part. Anyway, back to helping Kamel Red.....as already stated, try not to be the "ugly American". In other words, don't be rowdy, loud, drunk, offensive, etc. Keep a low profile if possible. I would say violent crime is the least of your worries - watch out for pick pockets!!!! My legally blind friend from Torino had his wallet stolen three times already. You will have a great time, no doubt. Europe is a blast IMO. All the different languages, cultures in one small area. I enjoyed my time there. It was a great place for my kids to grow up too. Also, don't believe boneheads who tell you Europe is too expensive. Do research ahead of time, and you save a bundle on hotels.
You really should. The more info, the better. For example, a train full of sweaty Germans in the summertime is.....not something you'll soon forget.
You dont need any advice, apart from maybe specific areas to avoid in specific places. You dont need a weapon, just come over and have fun
What are you trying to do, invade Portugal? And who gave you the stupid idea that shooting somebody else's animals was a good idea? Of course it's a bad, bad idea to run around here packing heat. You're a tourist for chrissakes and as such, you won't get a permit (same thing for tourists to the US btw). You won't spend 20 to 50 in prison, but but the kind of incident that 'exposes' that you're carrying unlicensed weaponry can get you in deep doodoo for escalating a situation and illegal possession. Here's a tip. Don't get in trouble and you won't need a gun. There's just a few spots in Europe where I might say risk it, but those aren't generally where tourists go. And drawing a gun on pickpockets is generally considered a very bad move over here...
Dude, you don't need protection. No ones going to do anything bad to you. At the very worst you will get your pockets picked or if you are a trouble maker get into a drunken fight. Basically, make sure you don't carry around too much money and get adequate insurance and you will be fine. One other thing though which will do you much more good. Find out about what you can and can't do in Europe, dont come over here ignorant expecting everything to be like it is back home. Oh, and final thought, if you so much as produced a fire arm in the UK and it was spotted, the police would be on you in a flash, and not the normal UK police totting bobby hats that everyone here likes to have a laugh at, you would have the armed response teams on you and they don't tend to mess around.
