It was a chicken shit warning on the part of Holdfast. Like so many other things the moderators of trekbbs tend to do, they are trying to limit the speech of people in that forum. That is fine, but they should at least be honest about it. Holdfast admittedly warned apostle for what he thinks apostle was thinking.

Apparently the trekbbs criteria for posting is either post popular things that meet the consensus of the group or you will be warned.

What type of reaction do you expect from people when the mods at trekbbs begin warning people for thoughts? Are you so blinded by your position as a mod now that you can't see how incredibly arrogant that type of statement is?

Yes, I have. I have also read what Holdfast posted as well. The bottom line is he did not warn apostle for the thread, or posts in question. He warned apostle for what he thinks apostle was thinking. That is a shitty rationalization for warning anyone I don't care who it is.

On the one hand that was a bullshit warning, on the other hand if you choose to keep posting at TBBS you should expect stuff like that.

Elwood. Point of clarification. When we warn someone (and Mallory is right when he says that he rarely warns. He and I co-mod TOS and it's very rare that we warn someone in that forum), we enter the warning. I don't know myself (as I've not warned anyone using the new system yet, although of course, I've used the permaban part of it. ) if after one warns if one sees how many warnings that someone has. If so, that would be AFTER the fact.

In other words, warnings are given on current behavior, not to "trip someone into a ban". We don't know how many warnings someone has UNLESS WE GO AND DELIBERATELY LOOK FOR IT. Even if someone did that, the warning would have to be valid for it to stand.

Our system is customized (not quite the standard setup) to better suit our needs.

I can go either way on the warning. I see both sides on this. I could, in fact, argue either side of it, which is really a pain in the ass for me. I will end up consulting on this.

And Poodle, coming over here to whine about it and start up trouble is rather annoying. You post stuff, than run over here to tattle on reactions to it over there. If you have a problem with actions over there, do what you did, handle it the right way. Are you so in need of affirmation that you have to run over to a crowd that you know is hostile to TrekBBS?

You've not replied once in the thread at Trekbbs about this, bonze. I couldn't post at trekbbs when I posted this. As soon as I could post at trekbbs, I contacted Holdfast. Following that, I started a thread in MA. What else could I do?

I didn't come online til around 10 PM. I JUST finished reading 6 different boards including the two that I run.

It's late, I'm tired and as I said upthread, I'm conflicted. There is no use me posting in that thread until I a) sleep on it b) think on it c) consult on it.

I know it may surprise some, but I don't live online. I DID read all four fucking pages of that MA thread. Oh joysville. Just what I wanted to read. I'd have rather been reading the 15+ pages on the Indy movie which was part of the reason (seeing the movie) that I was off-line today.

By the way, exclusive of any trolling/lack of trolling, it was a stupid, pointless thread which seemed to serve no conversational purpose. That comes from Bon the poster, not Bonz the manager.

I think that the true answer is a bit half-way. It wasn't an innocent thread nor was a it a troll. I've read enough of Apostle's posts that I know that he does honestly feel frustrated by the fact that his permit is valid in CA.

The answer, I think, is that he is an ass and stupid. He will keep repeating the same things over and over again and will be completely oblivious to the consequences. First off, he needs to stop posting about every little thing in his life in Misc. He has to realize by now that nobody cares about you 'tipping the waitress' (or whatever that thread was about) and that he would be better served by starting up a blog. Yet, he continues to do this.

Maybe stupid is too strong a word as he does run a business and he is interesting in starting another, so I credit him for that. "Oblivious" might be better as he seems unaware of those around him. I don't think "Empathy" is a word he understands. He also doesn't get why a carry permit would be like a real estate licensee across state lines. If he truly feels that his rights are being abridged, then it is his duty to fight for them by going through the court system. In fact, there is a case right now in the SCOTUS. I'm surprised that he doesn't talk about that.

I find myself in the weird position of both agreeing with Holdfast and disagreeing with the warning. The warning provides a way for mods to be unambiguous about warnings. However, Apostle does need to be slapped to stop all of the shit he stirs up. Maybe next time, instead of locking the thread, you guys can just merge the Apostle gun threads together and encourage Apostle to try to keep his gun posts in one topic.
