I find it quite easy, actually. I pay about as much attention to her as I do Baba, anymore.

It's probably an inevitable development. Much like The Neutral Zone at Trek has descended into left-wing la-la land, Wordforge has become increasingly right (or libertarian perhaps) leaning because the balance tipped in that direction at some point and gradually the left-leaners became tired of being the minority and went in search of an echo chamber of their own. Most of us now regular here agree with one another to a large degree. There are a few trolls espousing opposing views just to be trollish, a few remaining lefties who have gotten trollish almost as a defense mechanism, and one or two lefties who can still string together a reasoned position. At TNZ, same deal the other way around.

The difference is wanting to be left alone versus sticking your ass in everyone else's finances.

Republicans hardly leave us alone when they're elected. Stealing one kind of social freedom (economic) is just as bad as stealing another (liberties), and both teams (red and blue) will generally do both anyway. Again, what's the qualitative difference? You're both awful.

But as long as the only way to be accepted at WF is to first run the gauntlet of "Who's dual are you? " and then learn the patois and the secret codes and the in-jokes and tolerate the endless repetition of tired Special WF memes, most potential new members of any stripe are likely to decide that it's too much trouble.

But please, pulleeze don't judge all Americans by WF...

From an European point of view, WF is like a small rural American town, where all the madmen and gun lovers gather and hope for a revolution which will never take place.

However, I STILL think that WF gives a good impression of the US today. Or perhaps just an impression of the US which I'd love to have any connection with reality... Because it's fun to watch! People love clichés...

The labels "leftist" and "rightist" are stereotypes by definition and really only apply ad nauseum to partisan politics here and don't really interest me at all.

Since I have almost zero interest in politics and find politicians and our two party system to be nauseating and a lot of what is wrong with this country in general I look elsewhere on WF and find a lot of insightful, intelligent discourse on a wide array of subjects other than politics that ARE interesting (books, movies, popular media of all types, sports, technology, writing, history, gaming, mechanics of the US Constitution, gun ownership, etc.) to me.

So as a prolific lurker here who has lurked unnoticed since 2005 or so there is a lot of interesting stuff here OTHER than politics.

For those unaware, in this post, I also made the note that these personality traits aren't specific to left-leaning individuals, but that I'd found them, by comparison, more prominent in the general left public than the right. I also mentioned that these issues also apply to extreme right-leaning individuals.

From what I've noticed, most of the right-wingers that I've met and/or come into contact with on Wordforge have had several or all of the following characteristics:

Palin-ite
Alcoholic
Redneck
Self-righteousness
Murderous tendencies
Apocalyptic delusions
Under-education
Abrasive social behavior
Obsessive behavior
Mood swings
Aggressive personality



With a few notable exceptions (hi Apostle and Dayton!) I find the majority of Wordforgers on all points of the political spectrum to be fine people on a personal level, although there are definitely some wacky, hypocritical and ignorant political stances out there.

My English skills are really too poor to explain what I want to explain here on this bbs. Sad but true! Try to discuss about serious topics in German, and you get the feeling...

Seriously, my language skills are just not good enough to be a regular poster here. IRL, I have never needed to use your language for several years now. I understand almost everything, but when I have to use English to make sense for others, I fail miserably. Yeah, it's a pity.

Can't argue with many of them, but I would write of the Palin-ite and apocalyptic delusions to the more extremists. Fox News isn't the voice of the right, as much as lefties love to believe. The extremists are the ones that are trying to widen their target victims by shoving them in a box with the media personalities that claim to be a voice of their party or wing.

And the topics discussed here are often complicated and profound. I'm not like some other "foreigners" who are masters of your language, like Packard.

You speak (or at least type) English better than a lot of posters here. Besides, the one thing all Wordforgers have in common is that we have all shown our asses more than once. I say go ahead and dive in.
