After all these years I have no idea why people have the names that they do. What was the origin of your screen name. El Chupacabra originally came from I X Files episode I had been watching when I signed up.
I remember that episode. We were talking about anti-miscegenation laws, and Delaware was the only state aside from the Confederacy that had any past the 40s, some moron dixie went , and thus, I became Delaware.
Liked the x files. The first four seasons, at least, and i think the el chup episode was part of them. Mine's from a Monty Python sketch. It's pronounced Throatwobbler Mangrove, but it's actually spelled Raymond Luxury Yacht.
I was "Commodore Mendez" at TrekBBS. When we came over here I wanted a non-Trek username. I've always been a big Peanuts fan so I chose Chuck.
Anagram of my RL first name, which the homonunculi like to throw around when they're unable to refute what I post.
"Tamar Garish" was the name of my Star Trek RPG character when I joined TrekBBS. What can I say..I'm a geek.
That's right! You were! Man, I totally forgot about that. Good times, blast from the past! My screen name "Chaos Descending" is the name of the metal band my friends and I were in back in high school. Or would have been, rather, if we actually knew how to play any instruments. Or would be, rather, once we'd learned... etc.
(steps out of character for a moment) SkinOfEvil, obviously, is just a character I play here to piss off the trolls. Legion came about because, like the biblical demon, I have many names. (steps back into character) Show Skin the tits!
Serious answer: "shooter" is a slang term for a news photographer/cameraman/photojournalist. The capitalized "ER" at the end came from a very old message board that had case-sensitive usernames. There was a "SHOOTer" and a "shOOter" there, IIRC. I've kept it on various boards through the years.
Originally (as far as these boards go) "General Chang" - wanted Gary Mitchell but some slug who never posted already had it, Chang appealed to me, though i'm not really into klingons, for the hammy Shakespeare quotes and because i sucked (still do) at choosing original names. Shepherd - when we moved over - was a play off the idea of a teacher/preacher being a shepherd of those he taught, plus the parental role. Nova was John's suggestion when I was trying to come up with a fitting name for my new/revealed identity and the dictionary definition seemd to perfectly describe the situation.
My username comes from one of my favorite G1 Transformers. Back about 6 or 7 years ago, when I started collecting them again, I managed to complete it. The toy itself has close to 20 pieces that is almost impossible to find 100% complete. I eBayed the final two pieces a few years ago, and now the whole thing sits in a box somewhere in my parent's house.
Remember Boogie Nights? John C. Reilly played a character who played a character in a porn film named Chest Rockwell. I started calling myself that for a while (normally while druck) and it became a nickname of mine.
zog was a silly word from a B5 episode. Fluffy was for Rygel XVI, deposed Dominar of the Hynerian empire. Tuttle was an unauthorized scab heating engineer that had problems with authority
But... that's not an anagram of "garamet". That's an anagram of, "Shh! Queerish keen ghost now to clean jammy, Ace! Ha!"
