During the last brew-ha-ha it was put forward the idea of having observers again (Thanks, Face!) and we have been discussing it and feel that it's a good idea.

This time, we intend to do it differently, however.

First, we will not be choosing the observers...you will. Please post your nominees in this thread. After a week or so, we will commence voting.

Second, observers will also be considered as candidates for moderators.

Third, this will be a rotating position...every three months or so, nominations and voting will commence again.

We will start with two observers and see how it all works out.

    So, start posting those nominees!!

And what exactly would these observers DO...?!?

(I'm guessing it has to do with observing...something :finger:)

I would hope they'd be allowed to comment as well, even if their comments technically carry no weight.

Having worked with FrontLine before as mods over at TBBS I'd have to say he's a great candidate. He'll probably punch me in the nuts for the suggestion though.

IIRC, they're just regular posters who have access to the shelter threads but they aren't mods so they dont merge threads, warn, etc.

I nominate myself for the three-month period of November to January.

I will have almost no internet access during that time, so that should make the job pretty easy. I won't have any time to observe and, since I have no idea what the observers are supposed to observe, that will all work out very well.

Yes, observers would observe and comment on what the staff is doing in the Shelter.

They can also float ideas and such.

Pretty much a member participating in Shelter business but not being a full moderator....yet, anyway. As I said, they could be future candidates though.

Observers will be able to watch the goings-on in the Shelter to see how the staff discusses and decides things.

This has to be one of the weirdest things ever. Scrutinizing moderator interactions on a board with almost no moderator actions?! :wtf:

My opinions probably shouldn't matter here, but I like the idea of getting good coverage both geographically, politically, ideologically...

I second (or third or whatever) the nominations of Tex and 14thDoctor.

How about just letting EVERYONE see inside your cute little mod forum, even if they can't post in it?

Worried about hurting someone's feelings because Mod X says bad things about them behind their back? So fucking what - if you can't take it, fuck off out of the red room.

We already have that, only there's a delay before threads are released.

Besides, if you're reporting someone for posting your full name, address and PIN number, I imagine you'd rather not everyone see it before it can be edited out.
