They hold similar opinions, but rules at those boards do not allow them to express such opinions. This is a free speech board above all else, so no rules will protect you from being told in no uncertain terms how folks feel about you.
Welcome to free speech, baby! And note, most people don't receive your treatment. Do you ever wonder about that?

Good, tell us about the experiences. Which major cities, for how long? What did you do in Mexico?

Dallas, Houston, New Orleans, Mobile, Orlando, Knoxville, Nashville. Overnight in all. Several days in the case of the first three.

Mexico. Mainly sight seeing. Bought some magazines. Got a hand carved chess set. Swam a lot.

Mobs are not examples of free speech. Freedom of speech in a right accorded to individuals not herds.

I grew up on a farm and I'm familiar with how animals work. They typically focus on attacking a single target and ignore others.

    Same here.

So you're nominating yourself as the dog are you? Funny, because I see more than one dog in yourself, your religion for instance (hey, guess what "Dog" is spelled baclwards"!).

If you were a dog that could control you would not have managed to get the majority of people you have encountered to dislike you and you would have some shred of control over us. This really goes to what @ed629 was saying above. You have no control or power over any of us. You only think you do. The only power and influence you have is upon the children you "teach", which is frightening.

In all of those cities, and indeed Mexico, how much time did you spend in the company of new people? How many culturally diverse places did you visit?

If the "mob" is made up of individuals who have the right to free speech then by default, so does the mob. Not only is that rather obvious, it's also part of the core of democracy. Strange that a future President doesn't seem to understand that.

It just amuses me that Dayton thinks that "not well liked, but for other reasons" is somehow in his favour.

Okay, I should have been more specific. I meant a major city not in a neighboring/southern state, with a stay lasting at least one week. And I am interested in what Chup mentions -- what interaction did you have with people who lived there?
With the exception of the chess set, nothing you mention is unique to Mexico. I'm going to guess you went to a resort location and the trip included a two hour guided shopping excursion to a street market. You have not been to Mexico (a place I know even better than Russia).

I'm picturing family events (weddings, funerals) at which Dayton checks in to a hotel/motel, surrounds himself with family, speaks to no one other than the clerk handing him the room key and maybe the servers in the nearest "family style" restaurant, then drives home the next day, his only exposure to the city he's staying in comprising the walk from the car to his room carrying his bags.

Of course gul. If I haven't any experience in something you slam me for that.

If I have experience in something you move the goalposts, claim my experience isn't relevant, and slam me for that

Dallas is as much a part of America and American culture as New York City.

A resort city is as much a part of Mexico as downtown Mexico City.

I would guess that if I visited Russia as part of a mission trip you would slam me for not spending time in Moscow or St. Peterburg or for only spending time around Baptists or Church of Christ people.

The goal post moving is epidemic it seems.

No, I simply want you to spend time in an unfamiliar environment. You have not presented evidence of this, so the original critique remains valid.

    No.

By the way, my "familiar environment" is as much a part of American culture as that of any conceivable "unfamiliar environment" that gul or El Chup suggests.

They are both parts of America, but they are very different as cities. NYC is one of the most diverse and global cities in the US. There is much to learn there without even traveling abroad.

Am absurd statement. You know the recent terrorist attack in Tunisia? Well I've stayed in the resort it took place in and it couldn't be further away from the real cultural Tunisia tat existed outside it, and this was acutely apparent to me as I stayed for several days there and then traveled around the rest of the country. These resorts are designed as comfort zones for foreign tourists. To get out and learn you need to properly travel and explore and, most importantly, get to know the locals, their customs and their culture.

Probably, because the whole point of such a trip would be to visit people who are lie minded. Still, at least they'd be Russian. But since you haven't gone there this comment is irrelevant.

No, it isn't. The gist of the line of questions has always been about how much you have sought to experience things outside you comfort zone. Saying "I went to a tourist resort" strikes me as being no different from the insufferable expat Brits who go to the Spanish coast for the sun and sand and just seek out cheap restaurants selling British food so they can still have the same sheltered expereince as back home without worrying about trying something new or learning about the place they are in.

Sheep can be herded very effectively by a single sheep dog. Just as thousands of cattle by a handful of cowhands.

My point was that once a herd be it animals or like minded people fixated on a single goal, objective......or a point of view, it takes a lot of effort and energy to break up the herd mentality.

I've seen the herd mentality on discussion boards before and I'm not just talking about wordforge.
