And? I don't think its that my friend. It's more to do with the routine boasting by Turdrun of what a badass he is, and then I hear stuff like "I hung out in a diner until late and played an RPG board game, oh and I also trolled a BBS like a hero" as if it's an achievement while being told every other post (or at least the ones I bother to read) that I have no life and am a nobody. It's apt that it's in this thread as it's Castle all over again. Tererun is not an effective troll. Nobody has been run off by him or upset by him. He is clearly also a person living a small town life, which is perfectly fine, save that when one wants to boast they are a badass bigshot like he does maybe not everyone will be impressed!
That's great you're not impressed, but boasting about how unimpressed you are is doing the same thing.
Maybe, maybe not. The gloating has been pretty much one way from Turdrun. My experiences and achievements are hard earned. I come from a working class background and I know what it is to appreciate successes and work for it. I'm by no means at the top of the tree and there are some who are who would most probably see me as a nobody, but even I haven't got the front that this one has. I'm arrogant. I know that (hence the title on my av). But I don't hold myself out as the baddest thing on the planet and keep drumming it into people like they care.
It was a poor taste joke. I hope whatever reason Dicky is staying away for isn't bad or trivial. I enjoy his contributions.
I think an achievement is doing well in your career, making lots of money, driving a nice car, and owning a nice home in a highly desirable area. Hanging out at diners and playing D&D... Not so much unless it some how helps you achieve the previous.
Maybe it is for you. I think that's the point @mburtonk was making. Many of us, perhaps most, strive for something similar to what you describe, but speaking for myself, I could care less about the nice car. As for money, I'm not sure how that's defined. I do make a lot compared to many people, but I definitely could make more. I don't because I've purposefully chosen a position that is a bit below market rate but very rewarding personally. I've read @Tererun's descriptions of her lifestyle, and there are parts that are pretty appealing. I have a family and a mortgage, so I couldn't move around so much, and am less likely to spend money or time on frivolous activities like nerd conventions. But I wouldn't at all be surprised if s/he is quite a bit happier than many who have achieved all of the points you've listed.
I think your definition is overly materialistic. An achievement is succeeding at what you're doing, regardless of rewards.
What pompous bullshit. When we talked about Castle together you ripped through the man, and now this stuff is pretty appealing because it's Turdrun and agendas? Lack of consistency as usual.
What us Tererun a success at? Or is the dialogue on WF now revised that if someone promotes themselves as a troll and you call them on it the "troll" has somehow had impact? :unuts"
Don't be stupid, Chup. Is Tererun on welfare yet raging against socialism? Castle's problem is the contradictions between his life and what he represents about himself. The comparison is laughable, and makes me wonder whether Tererun has in fact gotten under your skin. At any rate, what of the point that I'm arguing? Isn't personal satisfaction based upon our own measure, not what society deems should matter? Or are you a better man than Dayton simply because you earn more?
No, I am a better man than Dayton because I don't have bigoted views. I am better than Turdrun because I don't claim to be the master of the internet and someone who is playing with everyone else (like Castle and the very reason you used to ban him). Or have I gotten this wrong somehow?
You sure? Because IIRC no less than three times in the recent past you've said you make $150,000 a year and noted that it was three times the best I've made annually.
Explain then, because what you have said thus far doesn't convince me at all and tells me more of the butthurt you have over my opinion of your admin capabilities (such as you suddenly, laughably pos repping any post that criticises me ) then it does an actual disagreement. Has Turdrun not been boasting that he is better than the rest of us? Has he not claimed that he is the master troll? Have you not railed against Castle and banned the man for a tenuous reasons, hence his multi-month grudge against you? Has Dayton not been a bigot? What am I wrong about? At least two of the above you have acknowledged in the not too distant past.....
That is why I won't bother to explain it. You don't want to accept or acknowledge an explanation, which is why you have gone from telling Castle you wouldn't defend him if banned, to now implying that you were against it. Yeah, sure. By the way, it's cute that you think my repping of others has something to do with you. That is some serious lack of confidence that you would even look for something like that, let alone see it. I rep things that entertain me, there is no pattern to it. The reasons were not tenuous, as you well know, or at least did at the time it happened. You practically called for it, whether or not you now claim otherwise. On that, we agree. You are wrong in thinking that everything people do or say here necessarily is about you. Going back to Dayton, yes, he's a bigot. But only you thought he was talking about you specifically when he made his one comment about Jews. He probably wasn't. And if he was, he's probably been laughing at your reaction ever since.
I've never seen a dungeon or a dragon so it sounds like Tererun has seen some amazing things. You shouldn't mock him.
What's up with people saying "AD&D" lately? Is it some sort of nerd code that you're better than regular old "D&D"?
Please turn in your nerd card. The original D&D boxed sets had very simple rules where every member of every class was exactly the same and just their level varied. In Advanced D&D things got much more complex and characters could really be customized. My understanding is they now made AD&D the only version and just renamed it D&D. I have also heard generic D20 systems like Pathfinder way out sell D&D 4th edition because they are more like traditional AD&D while Hasbro tried to make official D&D a copy of World of Warcraft.
Maybe it had something to do with the moral crusaders accusing him of being a misogynist. I'd like to think he was made of sterner stuff, but who knows, maybe having people he otherwise was politically aligned with declaring him to be an other was too much for him.
