    Everything.
Your beliefs are wrong, and harmful to people, and you should cry and be ashamed.
    In front of people.
    On the Time's Square jumbo-tron.

What does the national guard have to do with anything?

That most closely resembles Hamilton's definition of "well regulated militia".

Examples chief? What specifically am I wrong about? It should be easy for you since you're so convinced.

So what? The militia is not tied to the right to bear arms. I don't have to join the national guard in order to own a gun.

Nope, that's not what the 2nd says and it's not consistent with the writings of the FF's and common law. You lose.

Don't go too hard on him, D. He and Cruz could be peas from the same pod, except Cruz actually attended high school.

Don't want any kindergartens getting shot up.

Prove me wrong then, show me how gun ownership is tied to the militia.

yep - thank you for helping me prove my point. Fix the system before you start taking away gun rights. Prosecute those individuals who abuse or ignore the procedures already in place before you try to stop rancher John Thompson in Elkfuck Colorado from buying a 30 round magazine for his coyote hunting AR-15. I know, paper pushing isn't as sexy as dead kids but you get the idea.

That doesn't say what you think it says. It talks about the militia how how it should be organized. It doesn't tie gun ownership to the militia and even if it did, that was before the Constitution was ratified and subsequently amended to guarantee an individual right to bear arms not tied to the militia.

Trevor Noah interviews a group of students from Douglas High School.
I'm very impressed by their responses.

So if someone ruins my life by slander and false accusations, I could be totally excused and in fact applauded for wanting limits and conditions placed on who can exercise free speech and how?

For example. anyone who wants to use a pen or a loudspeaker must be 21 years old or older. All pens must be registered and licenses issued. Mandatory classes in journalism ethics before one is allowed to publish anything.

I could be totally labeled as a courageous hero for pushing for that stuff, right?

False equivalency. You could file a lawsuit. Hard to do that if you're dead. Remember "sticks and stones"?

@Captain X is more afraid of being hurted by words than by getting shot at. :itsokay:

I doubt anyone here who is pro-2nd Amendment would suddenly become anti-2nd Amendment if we were in a similar situation. I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess these kids' views predate this school shooting.

    Possibly.

However, I'm fairly confident none of you actually watched the clip in its entirety or at all :bailey:

The first thing to pop into my mind:

"So it was, when the Philistine arose and came and drew near to meet David, that David hurried and ran toward the army to meet the Philistine. Then David put his hand in his bag and took out a stone; and he slung it and struck the Philistine in his forehead, so that the stone sank into his forehead, and he fell on his face to the earth. So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and a stone, and struck the Philistine and killed him." - 1 Samuel 17:48-50a (NKJV)

I could get behind training all students and teachers in the safe and proper use of the sling. ;)

sorry - I would have to call a "Mythbusters" on that sling & stone story. :dayton: I'm assuming David possessed average or slightly less than average strength and experience considering he was young and hadn't yet reached his physical prime which generally occurs between age 28-32 in today's army. If Goliath was notably & significantly larger than the average soldier (indeed a giant!) then I have a hard time believing David would be able to generate the force and accuracy for a fatal blow.

I've made slings out of boot laces and shoe leather and while they do generate the leverage to throw stones & rocks significantly farther & with more velocity than we can generate naturally, the odds of killing a much larger adversary who is already on high "combat" alert are slim-to-none.

Granted slings are a great hunting tool in certain situations! Let me preach on it: slings are great for driving game out of thick brushy areas (where they are hiding at a distance) into more open areas where you can get a clear shot at them. But killing a human especially of larger than average strength and mass? Color me skeptical. Show me an experiment wherein a stone can be propelled at lethal force versus with enough force to only stun, dosorient or drive off an opponent.
