"economic" refugees should not be recognized as having refugee status.

There is no such thing as an "economic refugee".

You're a clown who doesn't even know what defines a refugee. :jayzus: Go and read the Refugee Convention and then come back once you've educated yourself. I would have expected a history "teacher" to know these basics.

That's what I assumed when I read his quote, but now that I've seen the video, it sounds more like he was doing the Loony Tunes fail trombone.

We aren't talking about Mexican border jumpers coming over here to get jobs in landscaping and roofing. We're talking about people from Honduras, Guatemala, and El Salvador who are trying to get away from the extreme violence being perpetrated by the Maras.

Trump is a reasonable man. It's one of the qualities that make him a decent president. :)

I passed the comprehension part of the Praxis II on the first go around. Not remotely as a score as my almost flawless content knowledge but still passed.

And for that matter I've never been diagnosed with any kind of autism.

See, I would have simply replied “fuck your inhumane law.”
Of course, brevity doesn’t necessarily win the day, and your response is far more elegant.

Lies! It was all open borders under Obama! The right has been saying so for years. :bailey:

In all seriousness though, Obama was tough as hell on illegal immigrants, and that caused a lot of controversy...but at least he didn't make it a policy to separate families...even though it did end up happening from time to time.

I've seen the Law & Order "beat" sound effect written as "womp, womp" and assumed he was going for that in some misbegotten attempt to say "this is justice, these are crims".

Well, don't worry. Looks like Trump will soon reapply the Obama standard and put families back together in holding. Instead of releasing children we will now instead have them locked up with their parents. The pictures will look just like the ones I linked too. Right down to the survival blankets that make them look like they've been wrapped in aluminum foil.

Which of course will predictably lead to the left screaming.

The media, the left, don't care about this. No one gave a damn while this was happening under Obama. This is just an outrage moment for the upcoming elections. Once the left thinks this story no longer has legs they will move on to another outrage issue.

Oh this is about immigration and not about caging out of control children of privileged white people. I had to answer yes due to a few terrors I have seen.

As for Trump he feels they are animals so you should expect that sort of thing. That is why we should not elect racist presidents. Someone please explain it again for the republicans and use smaller words and pictures. Perhaps some crayons would be best for their simplistic little minds.

Not really. Under Obama, the policy was not to charge people who crossed illegally with children at all...so there was no jailing of children with their parents. Even if that were the case (it wasn't), the Flores Agreement wouldn't have allowed it. The policy was either to keep them together in temporary detention centers while their asylum case was reviewed, or use electronic monitoring, or let them go free in the US with the promise of showing up in court when their case is heard (catch and release).

Why? Obscure international agreements are not part of the course syllabus for most 7-12 level history courses.

Well if Trump has truly changed policy, how are the disgraceful cunts who were defending this abomination going to excuse their support of it while trying to reconcile the new decision with their unwavering devotion to The Donald (hi @Dayton3 -*waves*)?

In a way Trump has done us a favour as we can watch the truly dispicable cunts like @Dinner twisting in the wind while even Trump had to accept he’d gone too far.

Given El Chup is an immigration attorney and his livelihood is supported by representing the interests of refugees, then his opinion advocating for the rights of refugees can't be taken seriously as he is advocating for his own financial interests.
