That's not uncommon in the present day. Neither of my parents had one, and another friend who passed away this summer didn't have one either.

You gotta go out of your way to do one.
It's a whole rigamarole to get it in the paper.
The default is there just isn't one.

Yup. The funeral home will put something up if you pay them to do it, but that's part of the upsell.

Ray's mom just wanted her ashes dumped somewhere pretty, so the $799 no frills package was I paid for. They turned her powder, stuffed her into a sealed plastic container, and gave me ten copies of her death certificate to send to the appropriate places. They also threw in a free reusable bag after I said I was taking the ashes on the bus.

Chup won't have an obituary. The only British newspapers in London are ones he'd hate, both left and right. Those who loved him will know via FB or other social media, or in our case antisocial media.

As for SHRELP, the only confirmation he'll get are Chup's cold, dead fingers.... right up his rectum, as they were in life.

here you go? What city did he live in? Was it London? Have you tried the link you included first to test it out? What kind of "bait & switch" was that?

Chup was a fine dude. Spurs fan, self-declared asshole, narcisstic drama queen... Self-ironic to his core, typical Brit. Often drunk, lonely and full of coke on Saturday evenings. Good guy... Condolences to his friends and family.

800 bucks? Damn I can't afford not to bury my parents at those prices! They are always busting funeral homes in Georgia for ripping people off. Quite a few years back a funeral home's incinerator was on the fritz so the funeral home was just dumping bodies in the woods and giving families any old ashes. :yuck:......and :brood: .....:shakefist:
I'm sure Georgia isn't the only state where this happens. My parents are both in Idaho - I don't know how their prices are.
As for me getting buried at Arlington in DC? Fuck that - they got busted for putting the wrong bodies in the wrong spots more than once.

The local fish wrap charges $100 for 50 words. $200 for 75 words. When my paternal grandfather passed away, I wrote the copy for the obit per my paternal grandmother's exact specifications. $300 for a two day run. It's not worth it, IMHO.

That's thing I appreciate about Facebook, it lets the family of the deceased notify most everyone that might care quickly, easily, and for free. :clyde:

You’re a redneck so obituaries of family members are your primary source of income.

I tried to think how that could be funny, clever, or worthy of a faceman post.

    You’re losing your game.

    Sad.

Nah. If it remains unlocked after Dayton returns, then it'll be the most derailed one. (I say we lock it before then, just to give El Chup one last time to piss off Dayton! )

You’re a southern red neck racist who thinks the best days ended in 1865. You’re whole thing is whining about losses. It’s no surprise then that you’re obsessed with obituaries too. Anything to drum up some pity points for your sad little lives.

if it is we need to step up our game...diarrhea, gun/ballistics minutiae, girls with helicopters on their heads.......entry level derailment to be honest.

how Walmart produce bags are so fucking hard to open! :shakefist:

Get over yourself. If he was prankingvWF then he would get almighty hell when he came back. But he's not, the guy is dead.

It makes zero difference to your life.

But its good to know an imported idiot that came to WF on a recomendation worries so much about us all he has to know an original member isn't pranking us.
