What a loving tribute to chup. Derailing his memorial thread while getting into personal insults with our Dayton replacement. It is just like he used to do. I can hear him in heaven now arguing why he was banned from life but dinner was allowed to live. He is here with us.

I think Sokar's thread made it to 30 posts before the people he pissed off began getting their licks in, but yeeeeeeeah.

I never wanted to bring it up before because it kind of sounds like I'm defending him, but if you listen to Polanski and his accuser talk about what happened, they both describe the exact same events, except Polanski is convinced she was totally into it. Which seems insane, until you remember that it happened in an era where "Baby, It's Cold Outside" wasn't considered offensive at all. I'd bet pretty much anything that Polanski thinks her resistance was exactly that sort of culturally mandated fake resistance that was expected of "good" girls back in those days.

Add to than him being a big shot director, her being an aspiring actress, and the sketchy "casting couch" system that was far more acceptable back then, and of course he'd have thought she was there to sleep with him, and of course she was putting on a show instead of sincerely saying no.

I'm fairly certain that's why his sentence was initially so light. I could totally see his attorneys arguing that what he did was something loads of influential men were doing regularly as well, so how can you punish him severely without opening the door to locking up most of Hollywood?

To be fair, there's a difference between derailing a memorial thread with completely unrelated chains of discussion like they're doing here vs. using a memorial thread to piss on the deceased's grave like I did in Sokar's memorial thread.
