Why? He lost states where down ticket republicans have won and there haven’t been hints of election shenanigans.

CNN called it for Warnock. Ossof and Purdue are both at 50%, within a few hundred votes last I saw, but all the outstanding areas are dem.

Cohn is giving Ossof a 95% chance of a win now in his forecast.

    Senate Minority Leader McConnel.

Senate Budget Committee Chairman? Bernie Sanders. :D

James Carville gleefully sticking the knife in and twisting it on MSNBC. He pointed out that in Whitfield County, which is overwhelmingly red and where Trump campaigned, Ossof got a higher percentage of votes than Biden on a lower turnout. "There's nothing more fun than watching republicans lose races."

Well bugger me with a fish fork and call me Susan, the Dems might just pull this off.

My prediction, given where things currently stand:

Warnock -- holds his lead above the .5% threshold - no recount.
Ossoff -- outstanding votes from Fulton and DeKalb will push him over the top - will be within threshold for recount.

NBC calls it for Warnock. Ossoff takes the lead. The great majority of the votes remaining to be counted are in overwhelmingly democratic areas. I'm too tired to calculate how many votes he needs to get a lead of more than .5% and avoid a recount.

So what are the odds we just say fuck it and have another civil war over this? Or maybe the Senate Republicans will just refuse to give up power.

So it looks like I was wrong. I figured both Republicans were going to win. I feel ashamed for being so wrong. :(

Oh, who am I kidding? I've never been happier in my life to be wrong! :D

    Suck it, Donald Trump!

    Suck it, Mitch McConnell!

And later on today, Congress will certify Joe Biden as the next president of the USA! :techman:

Suck it, GOP! You deserve it, for daring to still call yourselves "the party of Lincoln" while deserting all the values that Lincoln fought and died for!

Hmm. Seems that Democrats managed not to fuck something up for a change. Credit to them. But assuming they win both seats, that means that they have no excuses left when they govern.

I've rarely been as happy for someone as I am for Mitch McConnell right now.

So so happy to be wrong. I know a lot of great people in GA, and I know a lot of shitty ones. I am so happy to see decency and good sense coming through over the red hate tide.

It's official, you republicans were fired. Now get out of the way because we know you are not going to do anything. You are cowardly craven shits and now we have to kick biden to the left.

True, it is great he has also been taken down. I hope the dems do something because two years from now they are going to need a good wave to ride. It is not like the end of the lord of the rings. The republicans don't just fall into a pit and die. Since they are the party of Qanon quackery we need to keep fighting.

OMG could you imagine if I had to come out in four years, or earlier, and admit Biden was a decent president?

I hope I do, but look at the man and his history. Rapey old entitled white dudes don't change.

While the Democrat victory (victories?) in Georgia are razor-thin, it definitely reveals a shifting demographic.

This certainly doesn't bode well for the future of the Republican Party.

Although, to be fair, the shithole states in the middle of the United States seem to have their heads firmly planted up their own arses.
