Did I choose any part of my childhood? No. Did I extricate myself as soon as possible? Yes. Was I a productive, employed individual who emphatically is not a drain on any system long before that? Yes. And that trend has continued ever since. I was working two jobs before I graduated from high school. I have made no babies, claimed no benefits, burdened nobody. As soon as the choice was mine to make, that is how I made it.

Now, are you all claiming that I cannot expect other people to avoid procreating beyond their means to support, and further that their choices should somehow be my personal burden? Where is my incentive to participate in a society that only sees me as a piggybank to fund everyone else's negligent, self-indulgent behavior?

The boilerplate that goes unchallenged is that educating children benefits us all, but does it? Do they all grow up to be productive, responsible people? Is that what we're seeing on the streets right now? Can I get a refund when they do not? Should the parents get a bill when they raise a delinquent shitbag who brings nothing but theft and violence to drag down society? Of course not. So the honest disclosure is that I should be expected to pay to warehouse them for 13 years at a minimum in public school, followed by juvenile detention centers and then prison. All because a couple fucktards couldn't spare fifty goddamn cents on a condom.

Maybe start requiring hard labor in exchange for tax-funded benefits. See what effect that has on the birth rate. I'm only half joking with that.

I don't have kids, but I've got enough saved and a high enough salary any reasonable person would say "yes, this person should start a family". But I could still be fucked over tomorrow. Hell, COVID did a number on the education industry AND scientific funding that wasn't COVID-related. The university weathered it, but only because we'd already had a big restructuring to produce a budget surplus (which involved job losses). I'm not taking anything on faith, but then YOU NEVER CAN.

Nobody is stopping you from pooling your money with your neighbors to build a school without coercing anyone else's participation. Unless "milking the system" is a feature, rather than a bug.
