We discussed this elsewhere, but it is because chuck schumer will never let it be brought to a vote. Biden and the Dem party has said they have always wanted roe overturned because they are hopeless servants of the catholic church.

Just a thought but maybe if we want abortion rights we should start electing more agnostic or atheist people?

But the l;eft is only about pearl clutching about the loss of abortion rights while they cut you sluts down for your promiscuity behind you backs and back dems who vote against abortion in 2022. How is it going dems who support the queen while she is openly supporting an anti-abortion dem man running against a progressive woman in the dem primaries.

Why would you ever do such a thing if you were not against abortion.

Seriously TLS, you fucking win. It is clear the dem party supports banning abortion as they just elected a man who voted to ban abortion while serving in the senate just a few years back, and was influential in making sure no obamacare money went to any insurance company that provided abortion services to their customers.

This is not being complicit in banning abortion, this is secretly supporting it because you willfully overlooked history and facts.

So your answer is that you won't work toward convincing enough people that you're on the right side of history. Most likely you know that you are not.

Yeah, we should disenfranchise voters or gerrymander the shit out of districts like the party you support. Real confident in the righteousness of their cause, those cunts.

Because just the other day they couldn’t even pass legislation having a majority in both houses and the presidency so passing an amendment is not likely to happen.

Y'mean like storming the capitol, trying to kidnap and murder senators, and hoping to overturn an election you don't like?
Oh, wait, what party affiliation were the people who did that?

Whenever our anti-abortion fuckos smile about a woman being treated as a incubator, this is the type of shit they are endorsing, and in a democracy are partially responsible for.

You mean with the guns no one was in possession of? Where were you when the pavement dwellers were torching their habitats in the summer of 2020? Nothin like raiding the liquor stores while carrying a flat screen. That'll bring justice for crack addicts!

Because the Constitution rewards acreage over population. But that violates the very principle of the document, of the people by the people for the people.

The Republicans have been the party of breaking government to hurt people and reward the rich for decades now.

Keep this shit up, and you guys will get a new government. And you won't like the outcome.

With what 67 percent of votes? That's probably how it's gonna shake out once the next Civil War breaks the union for good, but there's no conceivable way for that to happen right now.

There is no agreed standard for when a developing human organism becomes a person worthy of having their rights protected.

As such, it's probably best to leave it to the voters, and to have the prevailing view of their community be the standard.

    Although...

...the courts will definitely have to decide (or assent to a law that codifies) at what stage a developing fetus is unquestionably a person. And, despite what a lot of extremists are pushing, that's never going to be "at birth."

No. Most extremists do not believe it begins at birth. That’s when the Bible says a baby is a baby. And extremists use that definition against religious extremists who attempt to argue that life begins at conception. The Supreme Court and pro-lifers should have settled for 12 to 16 weeks as has been the law for the last 40 years.

The religious right and those who continue to blindly follow the Republican Party may well be winning a lot of recent battles, but if they continue in that direction, they will ultimately lose the war - and everyone will suffer.

Why? They'll likely see abortion outright banned in some places and, eventually, a restriction on how late it can occur where it is legal. This ruling (presumably it will be similar to the leaked draft) will not be in any way a setback for the conservative side.
The war never ends. But the conflict does shift, and it's making a big shift in conservatives' favor right now.

The right will keep pushing. Until the people who don’t care are suddenly in the line of fire. Then the right will lose.

You just repeated what I said.

    We'll see.
No, you said the right will lose. I'm saying the pendulum will swing back and forth around some equilibrium that dissatisfies both right and left.

The equilibrium we're settling into now is: abortion will be illegal in a few states, and in the states where it is legal it will be subjected to some restrictions based on the rights of the unborn person, restrictions that will probably be established by the current conservative court. That isn't a complete victory for the right, but it's a big move in their favor.

Sure, but when another person comes into play, then it becomes my business. A libertarian isn't going to allow a murder because "it's not my business."
