See the US has done this cost evaluation thing since at least the 60s, and it's always worked out that it's cheaper to leave things like M-16s behind and buy ones later on than it is to ship them home. So we can agree that, from a moral standpoint, the US should bring such things home, but those who treat economics as a religion, tend to think that leaving such weapons behind is the right thing to do.
