    Did they actually do that?

If that is for real then that is not performative flag waving, that is awesome.

We organize, inform and show up to vote en masse. If we're a majority and get/stay organized we can envision whet we believe. Contrary to the fascist minority spin, the majority of the population "seems" to want the same things.

    Toxic individualism
is a proud refusal to examine one's belief system when presented with evidence that you may be wrong.

I had to look that one up, too.

"But there is a point when individualism becomes less “rugged” and more “toxic.” Self-reliance is great until we demand it of everyone without considering that some may be differently abled or have different resources available to them. Worrying primarily about yourself is awesome until you refuse to commit to even the most minor inconvenience for the sake of other people’s health and safety. Determination and tenacity are admirable traits until you have to step on other people’s necks in order to achieve your personal ambitions."

Interesting that you take issue with a meme that includes a black woman on it, and bring up welfare and child support.

About what I figured. More language to shame a person into surrendering time, effort and resources to someone else who insists their priorities are more deserving.

I wouldn't say that. Individualism is fine. I refuse to rely on anyone else for anything. I just don't, and never have, thought myself and my actions/wants/needs were more important than anyone else's.

No, it's language meant to indicate that something generally considered to be a positive thing, or a neutral thing, can actually be a negative thing in certain circumstances or if taken to extremes. "Too much of a good thing," essentially.
