You’re not supposed to come out of college and immediately get your dream job, you still have to build your resume and earn your keep. Eventually, if you play your cards right, you get the job you wanted. You are not owed shit.

Here is where my problem with college began. As a customer I buy a product that satisfies a need. College did not even lead to a certification within the cost. The reason I was going to college was the entry level position in the industry I was studying for. I was not going to spend all that money and time to have to flip burgers or answer phones for a decade until I got a job in what I studied for. I am also not paying for a school where the courses I paid for in the degree program I wanted were always full by sports dipshits.

The best solution was actually to get a job at the low end and then use corporate programs to pay for my education to advance into the position I wanted. That is not how it is sold to people, and why the fuck are people spending years and tens of thousands of dollars per year for an education when there is no position to go into? That is some dumbass shit.

Shitbaggery happens too. Like I said, life’s not fair.

Actually, that seemed to be the best way to do college. Most companies that offer that require you to stay on for one year or more or you are on the hook for the money they pay out. That is job guarantee right there because in the case of termination you walk away with a degree for free. It puts the company on the hook for money they spent to educate you.

And one of the goals of a society should be to address things like unfairness.

Interesting how you think that "fairness" equals the Soviet Union. Would you not say that a "fair" society was one that allowed all citizens over a certain age to vote? Would you not say that a "fair" society ensured that all people were treated equally under the law? Would you not say that a "fair" society tried to ensure that everyone had the same opportunities as everyone else?

Maybe. If you take it exactly that far, without insisting on the deluded juvenile fantasy that satisfying those terms must automatically guarantee anything resembling equality of outcome.

Where did I suggest anything about outcomes? After all, if everyone has the equal opportunity to become the next Mark Zuckerberg, but some of them opt to become beach bums instead, that's hardly an unfair society.
