I don't think police should have guns. they've proven they can't be trusted with them.

    No, the problem is meat-police.
    They need to be drones.

I posted this thread because some of our more gullible and/or less intelligent members have swallowed the Fox line that liberal areas are some kind of crime ridden war zones.

As usual the facts are quite the opposite.

Is that why you select for states instead of cities?

They don't like the metric system either.

They use the Imperial system, but hate the British Empire.

Yet they never bothered to come up with their own measures.

    Lazy inbred fucks.

So... when your belligerent nature bites off more than you can chew?

of course I'm dismissive of your fantasy scenarios.. although I note you don't discount reacting in a traffic incident. Which brings us back to the initial point that the likely thing to happen when one or both parties is armed is escalation. FOr some reason, I just can't picture you being contrite after rear ending a prius while exercising your dominion over the road.

To be fair, while I'm not sure he'd be contrite, I'd like to think he'd at least stay at the scene and verify the old lady's ok and perform the duties of a driver... Then gloat later.

We went through this dance last time and data was provided which shower higher rates in a whole bunch of states even compared to some of those cities.

My bet is on him yelling at the other driver for having yielded at the yield sign...

I mean, come on. We're talking about taking responsibility for a mistake here. We've seen how angry and abusive he gets when held accountable for harming others.

And it remains willfully dishonest to tar an entire state for the crime rate of its biggest couple of cities.

This time it was taken a step further with the weaselly insinuation that you should envision violent rednecks with AR15s as the real source of gun crime by virtue of the overbroad headline of "red states" when you know goddamn well that's not the case.

Course, the UA standard of harm is it's okay to watch someone sink in quicksand with a cold dead robot stare, but it becomes harm when you get bored, and want it to hurry up, and step on the person's head a little.

False. But I do refuse any obligation towards things I cannot control, and the willful choices of other people fall strictly in that column.

All that needs is a bullshit prequel story in your head of why quicksand guy chose the quicksand, and your hands feel clean.

There is no real-world scenario that compares to "guy in quicksand" in any meaningful sense.

So your argument is that Oklahoma and Nebraska have higher murder rates than New York and California because they are more urban?

No, my argument is you don't get to tar an entire state for what happens in one or two big cities within it. If only I'd thought to mention that sooner. :brood:

Well, Portland and Seattle are no longer crime ridden war zones because they have been completely destroyed according to @Uncle Albert.

Nebraska and Oklahoma have big cities? Oklahoma's population is the same as Los Angeles. Oklahoma and Nebraska's combined population is still smaller than the population of New York.

Fucking Wyoming has a population smaller than any one of California's eight most populous cities.

It's more than a couple of shops, but that does raise a morbidly interesting question. Exactly how many people should accept having their livelihoods destroyed in the name of "social justice"?
