Moscow Mitch put money (Senate leadership fund) into the Alaskan senate race to support Murkoski which would have gone red no matter what when he could have put that money elsewhere like AZ. Same thing happened in 2010 with the TEA Party. Had they spent the money more wisely, maybe things would have turned out a little better. The House race was a little different, it was a tight race. Mark never predicted the red wave, he blames the media for putting that idea into people's heads. Why are the Democrats celebrating? He asks. They made little to no progress. Look to Florida if you want to read the tea leaves. Two more years of Biden will probably tip the scales because Biden is going to double down on all of it and the economy will get worse.

My broker told me that a lot of his clients panicked when Obama was first elected. He was trying to keep some of them from dumping all of their holdings whilst trying to keep his temper in check amid n-bombs and rants about the pending socialist/communist takeover. When/if he was able to talk them down he would break out the figures which showed just how much better the economy does under democratic presidents. Many of them were absolutely shocked (I'm sure a few of them were of the Volpone/Flashlight mindset and were not persuaded by mere facts) by the reality versus what they were hearing in their own information bubbles.

I haven't quite figured that out yet. I think the GOP needs to go the way of the Whigs and a third party needs to replace them. The Libertarian party doesn't cut it either. I honestly think we need a new constitutional convention to hash out the big grievances we have rather than this balkanization we seem to be heading for. I would vote for a public option on UHC, UBI and raising corporate tax rates, but what would the Dems concede?

A modernization of the constitutional republic. Return most things back to the states as was originally intended, but let go of the culture wars. Like I said, give the Democrats some of the things they want like some form of UHC, some form of UBI, raise the federal minimum wage, widen the social safety nets, raise the corporate tax, come up with some sort of legislation that places reasonable limits on abortion. Things like that, but also gut military spending, repeal the war powers act, repeal the part of the voting rights act that says private businesses can't discriminate, return to sound money, a hybrid system of a gold and silver standard, get rid of the alphabet agencies, decentralize the government as much as possible, stop the drug war, create a flat tax, close the tax loopholes, term limits, create a system where you can do civil service in exchange for health care and/or citizenship, allow the flow of legal immigration while also strengthening the border, pull our troops from around the word, promote free trade, get rid of the SWAT team mentality in police departments. These are just some of the ideas I've been wanting to see, but never will. Some of these things the Democrats would probably go along with. We obviously need a huge overhaul in the country before the whole place falls apart. ETA: Public funding of candidates, tort reform.
