MSNBC just called Nevada for Cortez Masto. Democrats keep the Senate.

This also probably significantly increases the chance of Warnock keeping his seat in Georgia, which would increase the Democratic majority to 51.

CNN has called it as well. Nothing from Fox, WaPo or NYT yet though.

Watching the anchor try to interrupt Steve Kornacki with a question when Kornacki is amped up into full data-wonk mode is really entertaining.

Hobbs is up by 31K of Lake for the AZ governor. If she holds on, every single swing state election denier will have gone down who were in a position to oversee the 2024 election, in both the Governor and Sec of State roles.

Has any legit person crunched the numbers on the five remaining house seats?

5/5 isn’t easy but I am curious as to if anyone has put it through some models.

We talking 5% chance? Twenty? Fifty?

Christopher Bouzy, a math wiz that started bot sentinel and does election modelling and analysis, has a model that shows the Dems sweeping the remainder of the seats. Have no idea how valid it is, but it's getting a lot of interest on Twitter for obvious reasons. Oh, and yes, this does appear to be the real guy. :D

Probably only @Order2Chaos cares but Prop 1A (should Seattle use RCV or Approval Voting in municipal primary elections) just passed 50%.

Combined with Prop 1B going 75-25 RCV > AV if trends continue we will be using RCV moving forward.

It’s an Open Primary. I think RCV is easier to understand than approval and definitely has a longer track record.

And either one is better than FPTP so I am pretty happy.

Maine was the first to use RCV, and door-knocking hippies got it on the ballot with petitions.
I was groggy in my pajama pants when I answered.
I didn't comprehend it when the dude described it, but I was assured it would help get rid of LePage, so I scrawled my sig on autopilot mode.
    So.....you're welcome???

Worthless bit of trivia but we are one uncalled race away from every Congressional District on the Pacific Ocean being Blue.

It’ll be a full open primary like we have now. Anyone who pays the money or gets the signatures is on it. Then RCV will be used to pick the top two who will go on to the general.

Oh, and if we get Warnock re-elected, 51 will give another big advantage to the Dems - no need to power share committee chairs.

AND even if they boycott a committee entirely, which they did a couple times in the last two years to make sure no vote takes place, it won't matter, as the quorum will be met with Dems.

If anything gets done in Congress in the next two years on the legislative front it will be via reconcillation, and having those committees makes sure the Dems have full say.

Not that I expect much to get done if the House goes Red.

Optimistically, this will get more people to vote in the primary. Pessimistically, only the smaller number of primary voters get the benefits over RCV.

Pretty sad for the Repubs that, even with all their goofy gerrymandering, they couldn't do better.

It's high time for the mapping of electoral districts in all states to be handed over to non-partisan organizations.
